Tired of travelling from and to Surabaya, you can rest a while at this area. They sell coffee and refreshments. An interesting product they sell is the sweet potato (in Indonesia: ketela) in various forms of servings. That is all.

This chinese heritage restaurant in a bit cooling area in Pandaan - East Java has a lot of varities of local food.
You must try "Ote-Ote" a small fried salty cake with chicken/pork, oyster and seaweed inside, which originally called "Ote-Ote Porong". You could also try Fried Oyster Omelete. There are other local foods perhaps can only be found in this restaurant.

RM Kartika Sari

This is one of those restaurants along inter-city roads which cater tourists in buses or mini buses. We went there only because our drivers kind of forced on us having our very late lunch there, I suspected that was due to commissions offered to tour operators for bringing guests in. Overall we paid Rp 725k for 8 pax which we think is a rip-off for the kind of restaurant standard like Kartika Sari: no air con, dusty complex and food that tastes nothing but salty.
The "pecel" has no green in it. The oxtail soup and sayur asem only taste salty. Fortunately service was pretty fast. I know much better restaurants (better facility, cleanliness standard and taste) at cheaper price.

Sop Ayam Klaten Pak Mi'in

Visited this place last week when I was traveling to Yogyakarta. One of my friend who had lived in Yogyakarta recommend this place for breakfast.
The appearance was unconvincing, since the it's only soup with chicken part (you can choose among drum stick, breast, wings, etc). The color was so pale.
But wait, once you taste the soup, you will know it has very rich flavor. I can't even describe how tasty this soup. One word: Fantastic!
When you enter the place, you can see they boiling the chicken like hours. The good taste of the soup comes from the chicken broth it self. The long process also makes the chicken has soft texture, easy to chew.
The price? Every people who ever visited Yogyakarta must know how great the price there. I took chicken tight and it cost about 13-15K.
So much worth it!
