Oz Pizza

have been in this area for some months, and finally had a chance to try out this eatery. Its got a nice location next to the towns Open Air venue, you have indoor and outdoor seating. its semi-self service.. you place your order at the counter, can get your own drink refills, but they do bring the food to you.
We had their pizza, one of their salads, a Calzone, and enjoyed them all. Calzone is huge, big choice in what you want to stuff it with, very tasty/zesty marinara sauce on the side, and they give you more if you take some home. I had to cuz its Huge.. :-)

Pizza was excellent, as was the salad. this was on 2 separate nights, couple days apart. Its not fancy, but has a great atmosphere. Eat inside or outside, its a very nice little place ( not tiny, just seems that way from out front ), with courteous wait staff and workers..
easily recommend to anyone, flying solo, couples, family, groups..

My husband and I ordered the only soup available as our appetizers and hamburgers as our entrees at lunch. The other couple ordered alcoholic drinks and the chef’s special: soup and sandwich (“BLT” made with fried green tomatoes). Their drinks were served and we waited and waited and waited some more. No bread is served unless ordered (for which there is a charge). We asked the waitress where our soups were and she said it’s all coming out together. We waited some more and then our soups and burgers and fries all came out together. We hadn’t wanted the soup as a side dish so we sent those back. The burgers were really good and done as ordered. We had asked for crisp, well done fries; they were not crisp or well done. The other couple loved their soups and sandwiches.

Unless you're of Lebanese heritage, the menu items likely won't be something you grew up with. That said, it's a welcome diversion from the myriad Italian restaurants, usually owned by Greeks, and Mexican places with menus all alike, that seem to be everywhere in the area. So, the pros: good food, fair amount of choices, reasonable prices, excellent service, especially from J.R.. Cons: not so many. It's small so if you show up on impulse without a reservation you may have to cool your heels, literally perhaps, as you'd be standing outside since there's no place to loiter inside. The lamb chops ordered medium rare were closer to well done but they were not bad despite that. So yeah, try it...you'll like it.

Farmhouse at Serenbe

Reviewed By Nora D

My husband and I drove 50+ miles from NE Atlanta anticipating an enjoyable day outing. We knew the history of Serenbe & had always enjoyed the Peasant Restaurant group's food, "back in the day". The Farmhouse setting was rustic and pleasant, although signage for the Inn and restaurant was not well handled. We noticed at the hostess desk a County Health Inspection notice with a B rating posted. Not a stellar beginning and we had read mixed reviews prior to our visit, but we went with an open mind & planned to have fun. We were seated, having a reservation after the normal lunch hour, and the dining room wasn't very busy. Menus were brought and drink orders placed.

Menu offerings were surprisingly limited-a couple of starters, 2 salads, 3 entrees, 2 desserts. We placed order of one fried chicken plate (touted as great Saturday offering) and one of seared pork tenderloin , plus a "Starter" of fried okra. And then we waited...and waited some more. Another couple arrived and was seated nearby. Order was taken by a different server and their entrees arrived, while we still had not received our okra-at least 15-20 minutes from time order was placed. The okra finally arrived but had a number of large pods which were fibrous and tough. Just as we began to sample them a tray of 3 small biscuits were delivered, supposedly just out of the oven. Before we could each try one, our entrees arrived. Very poor timing with kitchen and serving, first with no food at all, very few diners to serve, and then our food all arriving at once. The pork had good flavor but had gristle and was tougher than is typical of tenderloin. The fried chicken was very dark in exterior color & looked burned.
Flavor was good but on dry side. Our plates were cleared after finishing and we wanted to order dessert to share. Another long wait before our server appeared; the chocolate brownie(?) was a milk chocolate square which had little flavor. All in all, a mediocre experience. Serenbe touts its organic fresh vegetables but the okra was very disappointing. Driving through the different communities we saw very few people, and for a Saturday it resembled a ghost town. Really strange, with many empty buildings, both residential & commercial.

FYI, anyone staying at the Inn on Saturday wanting to have peace & quiet
for the pool or reading outdoors would have been challenged. Across the main road from Serenbe's Inn property was a private home with a large dirt bike track, and kids were making the most of time to ride on it-noise++! Consider the possibilities before you book, especially on a weekend...
