Well... a genuinely warm welcome, a happy waiter who smiled as he worked, made suggestions on menu items but not in a robotic fashion often experienced.
Delicious wine. Fantastic soup to start (tomato/chicken, with small pearls of pasta) and a main entree of sausage and fettuccini. Great bread to wipe up the pasta sauce flavors afterwards.
Good brief conversation with other diners and also the chef too.
There is a reason this place is so highly regarded in this area. The reason is the people, because they make this a number 1 in my mind.
Such good quality food and service!!

Breakers Café has become a local favorite in the few years since it opened, in a space that had long been vacant after a long-established eatery closed. I’ve been here several times, with a friend and by myself, and never been disappointed. There is always a good number of customers from early to mid morning, both locals and guests staying at the cluster of hotels at Rockaway Beach.
On my last visit, a few weeks ago, I had the crab crepe, which contains crab meat, Monterey jack cheese, and avocado, topped with hollandaise sauce. Crepes are served with hash browns and a nice marinated salad of mixed greens and cut veggies, giving them a brunch-y feel (BTW, Breakers is open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and anything on the menu, from an omelet to a panini, is available any time). The crab meat is real – not “krab,” which is finely ground fish with some kind of starch to shape it, doctored with crab flavoring and pink food coloring, and molded into fake crabmeat morsel shapes before cooking. There is a ton of CRAB in the crepe, not a stingy spoonful. The crepe was tender, perfect thinness, and cooked just right. My friend had crabcakes benedict, which she loves but I pass on because I don’t like poached eggs. She enjoyed it and compared it favorably with Nick’s across the street.
In the past, I have had the bacon scramble, which includes mushrooms, onions, and cheese; and beef scramble, a form of the classic Joe’s Special with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and cheese. Scrambles are served like traditional breakfast, with hash browns and toast. I’ve also had a couple of the frittatas, and pancakes with carnitas. You can get more ordinary pancakes with fruit, nuts, granola, or chocolate chips, but I had to try such an exotic combination, and it was delicious – and the two big pancakes with carnitas was almost too much food. Other choices include salads, burgers, paninis, just plain sandwiches, and smoothies.
Breakers is just steps from the beach, and some seats have a partial view of the ocean. The walls are adorned with pictures of the ocean, surfers, and other Coastside scenes by local photographers. The employees are always cordial and service is friendly, if not always extremely fast. It may depend on the time of day; I’ve always gone in mid-morning, not with the snarf-it-up-and-rush-to-work crowd. Later customers seem more like folks who go to linger over a casual breakfast or lunch. Make this part of a fun morning at Rockaway Beach, with a hearty breakfast full of protein and fruit, a walk along the beach, a look at the surfers in the cove, and a peek into some of the little shops when they start opening at 10:00 a.m. – or go on a foggy day (and bring a jacket) to enjoy a different side of Pacifica’s personality.

This was my first time back since Original Joe's took over a couple of years ago. I was pleasantly surprised. We had the Joe's Special thaws yummy. Spinach, scrambled eggs, ground beef, mushrooms. My favorite. Plenty of parking the service was super also

While they do have great traditional sandwiches and a super impressive display of sides the real fun of this place is taking the chance on some of their signature sandwiches. They don't rush it so the food is always delicious and made perfectly every Time!

I had just arrived in SF after a cross-country flight and was starved. I was looking for some traditional ‘American’ cuisine. I saw the online menu at Jack’s and walked over from my nearby motel. I’m glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed the meatloaf which was served atop mashed potatoes, topped with crispy onion rings. I ordered a side salad which was very good. My server, Jonathan, was most professional and friendly. The atmosphere can be described as an upscale diner. Prices are not cheap, but fair for the quality and amount of food received.

We have been going here for about 15 years, 30+ times per year, on weekend mornings. There are many good dishes that have gone unchanged (Siu Mai, xiao long bau (despite being made remotely now),Har Gow, nye wong bau, Soy Noodles, hai Kim, char Siu rice roll, coffee ribs) but many favorites that have slipped. Fung zhao used to have a nice mandarin orange zest to balance the fattiness or the dish, but no more (and is often overcooked/undercooked).The sai yong donuts used to be large and airy but to make order more affordable have reduced size; now they’re smaller and denser so never order anymore. They used to have steamed coconut 1000 layer cake but no more. Dry-fried custard pancake used to be awesome but stopped offering that, too. KP is still the best around—we go around the bay regularly to other dim sum places and think this is still the best. But the bar has been lowered and we are a bit sad. Please note I have not mentioned price at all—dim sum has always been spendy but KP management decisions regarding menu seem arbitrary as if customers are skint. The good news is that new dishes are proposed regularly, now on a receipt you get when sitting down—much better than constantly chasing a new dish being delivered elsewhere just to find out what it is. Try the bo-lay tea—helps digestion and cuts the fat better than jasmine.

Went there for a dinner with my Peruvian wife... we both loved it and we're taking all of our kids and their wives back there for dinner too. All of the food was great... much better than I anticipated.

I am usually worried about surf and turf places, mostly because they neither do good surf nor turf. Moonraker proved me wrong. Everything on the table looked delicious or was perfectly cooked. My brussels sprout appetizer was delicious (perfectly charred). Unfortunately, the scallops, while perfect, had too bland of a sauce. However the banana foster bread pudding was incredibly delicious.
Service was friendly and the views of the ocean stunning. Definitely a good place for a date. So why not 5/5? First, the main course was a bit of a letdown to my palate. And second, the prices were pretty steep.

Had a hotel a block away, walked in a little past five and full. 30+ min wait. Decided to eat in bar that also served some food. Largest plate of calamari ($16) ever, could not finish, we also a potato skins ($10). A well martini at $9.50, a draft hefeweizen at $5.50. Very good food and service, but always crowded. Called over the next day and reservations were filled, and told to come with a wait, went up the road to "Steak and Seafood" sign, Vernando Station, also good food
