During a day of touring through the Green Heart of The Netherlands, I found myself in Oudewater during lunch time. During the exploration of this quaint old city I stumbled upon the Abrona Restaurant. I am very glad I did.
The lunch I was served was of exceptional quality and was made even more enjoyable by the extremely helpful and attentive service.
What was planned as a fast lunch stop is now remembered as a wonderful luncheon interlude in Oudewater.

Lovely location by a bridge over a small canal - an ideal spot for a pre dinner drink.
Décor inside is largely contemporary with interesting light fittings and the old wooden tables add warmth and ambience...a very pleasant setting.
Staff are helpful, and charming, with discreet but friendly service.
The food is really very good. We waited a while for our brown and white bread rolls which seemed to take a while until we discovered delightfully they were fresh from the oven.
A good range of around 12 dishes which can be ordered as entrée or main course size -three small courses is almost too much.
We had starters of bouillabaise the other home smoked salmon wit crispy boiled egg and urchin mayonnaise which was very good and a little unusual. Next oxtail with risotto and pickles, quite good and the other had pasta vongole - this was a little creamy in texture and I'd have preferred a cleaner non cream based version, the vongole were very tasty however. last course was pork belly with gambas - not the best choice as the pork belly while tender failed to crisp up the outside and the prawns were a bit on the tough side suggesting over cooking a little.
All up we had a nice evening in pleasant surrounds with good service. Would eat there again.
Reasonable wine list but not extensive. With three small courses we ad no room for dessert.

Last Friday I made a dinner reservation at the Dukdalf based on good reviews. Service is good, location is very nice with a view on the water in the center of Woerden. Food is excellent and beautifully decorated on the plate.

We arrived late with two large suitcases from a transatlantic flight, tired and jet-lagged. The owners kindly stored our luggage and immediately made us feel comfortable and at home. The atmosphere is intimate and warm, the service impeccable and most courteous (thank you Harry!), the food superb and reasonable. You will not regret going to this restaurant. Highly recommended! We definitely will return.

Just an enjoyable spot to dine with the family. Good food, great staff, lots of fun. We ate there twice in our 6 days stay nearby. A visit to the Rope Museum and the Witch Weighing Museum were interspersed with dining at the Eethuisje. Highly recommended when you visit Oudewater.

This was the second time we visited Bij Petrus, this time in summer so we could sit on the nice surrounded Terrace. The location is perfect, staff is very friendly and correct, menu is full of excellent choices. Set menu (3/4 courses) or a la carte both possible. Brought our toddler: no problem.
Food was great: taste is perfectly balanced, plates look beautiful, portions are fine. Maybe a little bit expensive though.

A good host knows when you want his attention and when you want him to stay in the background. The host in this restaurant does not. Dining here meant we had to pay attention to unnecessary explanations, including some ridiculous wine-for-dummies talk, while we were here for a family gathering, spending some precious time together. The food actually wasn't bad.

My wife and I ate here last night, wanting a change from our hotel. After a few days in Holland we are beginning to suss out Dutch eating habits: large portions and chips with everything. This place is no different, but, being forewarned, we stuck to main plus dessert. Our food (stuffed pork loin plus goose breast) was quite OK if not outstanding. We were surprised to see that all dishes come with chips + mayo + apple sauce, even the fish dishes! Desserts were good and I enjoyed my chocolate panna cotta. Service was fast and friendly. The Sauvignon blanc by the glass was very good. This is clearly a very popular place - it was full up and tables were turned regularly. It has a nice, rather quaint atmosphere, especially in the long cellar-like room where we sat. The menu is very large covering most meats, fish and veggie dishes. Prices are typical of the area - we paid just over €60. You do need to book ahead to be sure of getting a table.

As part of the IENS dinner days we visited this restaurant. A very nice location in the countryside which must be beautiful in the summer.
The service was good, nice speed of food service and certainly not pushing on the drinks (which happens regular when you are eating a set menu for a set price).
The food itself was good but not great. A bit on the salty side and not really standing out.
Certainly a place to return. Especially when the weather is good.
