The Esplanada is located in the centre of Nordeste near to the main church. There is plenty of free parking within a couple of minutes of the cafe. We had coffees and savoury pastries which were very tasty and reasonably priced. They also sell a range of sweet pastries too. There is indoor (and a small number of outdoor) Seating. The cafe appears to be popular with locals (always a good sign) as well as tourists. There doesn't appear to be waiter service (we ordered our food and drinks at the bar type area).

This is one of the best restaurants in the island, a place only locals frequent. Worth the trip. You will not be disappointed by the great food.

We went to Restaurante Tronqueira hoping for the lunch buffet, but in the off season they don't serve the buffet during the week. I wish the website had said so.
Our lunch was good none the less. I had the special fish of the day and it was outstanding authentic Portuguese cuisine.
The meal was good value, the service was excellent and the restaurant charming, with handy available parking too. We certainly plan to dine there again.

It's an amazing coffee place with nice people. You also have the chance of renting the house to stay there for the night (highly recommend!!!)
