We are raising the bar in Bar food!
This place has a varied menu and interesting specials the day we visited for lunch. They were packed and we had a small wait but the food was well worth the wait. Had the All American burger...it was delicious! Served with home made potato chips,...MoreStewart, thank you for giving us a great review and for recommending our restaurant to others. The Dirty Oar Supper Club is located on the shores of Lake Petenwell. The sunsets are beautiful looking out your window or enjoy the many gardens, The chef has been a chef for over 40 years. Our salmon is flown in weekly for freshness. All our seafood is wild caught and never frozen. Our steaks are hand cut, dry aged, black angus. We also serve vegetarian dishes and many specialty dishes.
We were very pleased with atmosphere with a beautiful lake view. Bar staff and wait staff very friendly. Food is delicious and for quality...worth the price. We will definitely be going back. Four of us and all enjoyed our meals. Rib-eye, ham and cheese stuffed pork loin, baked haddock...nice selection on menu.

The food here is what I would say is Americanized Mexican food. To be great, it would have to be beyond the typical variations of tortillas and cheese. Real Mexican food is so much more inventive. But it's decent and there is a whole lot of it. The Special Dinner is a sampler of one each of at least 5 items and is way more than anyone should eat in one sitting. Lots to take home for the next day. Prices are very reasonable and drinks are good.

The building housing Goodfellas Pizza was built during the depression era of the 1930s, and first served for many years as Nekoosa’s first public library. Over time it has withstood the punishment of the elements of heat, wind, and rain. People of the town are rather proud of that precious old landmark. But I am most impressed with what is inside – the food and the people. My father and I stopped by one day for a meal and the atmosphere of the people was so friendly; it was as though many of them were our neighbors. Nekoosa is such a close knit community and that is such a good feeling. And the food! The sausage and pepperoni pizza was as good as can be found anywhere, well, let me say it’s extremely good. Yes, Goodfellas Pizza was an enjoyable visit and I would recommend it to anyone passing through that little town.

Great atmosphere in a cozy setting with an obvious western theme. Breakfast menu items are good and reasonablely priced. It's self service on the drinks with free refills on coffee, soft drinks and ice tea. Service is good to excellent. Lunch menu is limited but good. The only bread for everything is chiabbata wheat rolls including sandwiches.

This is a fairly small place with tables and a counter. I was there for lunch. Lots of menu choices and specials. The servings were large and the food was good. Staff and service were very good and prices were reasonable. It's a little noisy when busy so people with hearing problems might find that an issue.

Stopped for drinks. Slightly overpriced. Interior is interesting decor yet service wasn't all that friendly. Not too busy and didn't; get to meet locals as no one seemed wanting to chat. View of the lake is spectacular and you can walk down to a sandy beach.

Big restaurant/bar that can handle big groups no problem. Pizza was just average. Sausage was large as meatballs which was a little off-putting. Flavors were slightly 'off perhaps it was the cheese. Crust was thin but slightly chewy if you like that. Wait staff was really good. We won't make the drive again.

Bar & Grill, full menu that has something for everyone
I have eaten here before, and had moderate success. So I figured that I would give it another go. I arrived about 6:00 pm and found the place on a Saturday night relatively empty. I was by myself and chose to sit at the bar.
First thing I noticed, was that it was taking the bar staff an awful long time to tap a beer.
Too much foam?
I made my first mistake of ordering a beer, and having to watch them dispense it. I love beer, but not when it isn't cold.
I soldiered on, and ordered a chicken sandwich special with a cup of chili. Chili wasn't bad, but the sandwich was pretty mundane. I asked if it was grilled chicken, and was told it was.
Hardly saw any grill marks on that pale piece of chicken breast. My sandwich had been ordered with their homemade potato chips, but arrived with french fries.
No drama, but to go along with a beer that wasn't very cold, I politely paid up and
made my exit.
As I was leaving, the bar staff was pouring shots for themselves. Not what a customer wants to see.
Looks to me like this place might need some supervision for the staff? Signs indicated that they were already looking for help.
Lots of places to eat in this region, but this place just was taken out of the rotation for places I want to visit again.
