Myitkyina (Burmese: မြစ်ကြီးနားမြို့; MLCTS: mrac kri: na: mrui., pronounced [mjɪʔtɕíná]; (Eng; mitchinar) Kachin: Myitkyina, [mjìtkjí̠ná]) is the capital city of Kachin State in Myanmar (Burma), located 1,480 kilometers (920 mi) from Yangon, and 785 kilometers (488 mi) from Mandalay. In Burmese it means "near the big river", and Myitkyina is on the west bank of the Ayeyarwady River, just below 40 kilometers (25 mi) from Myit-son (Burmese for confluence) of its two headstreams (the Mali and N'mai rivers). It is the northernmost river port and railway terminus in Myanmar. The city is served by Myitkyina Airport.

Kiss Me is a good-valued restaurant with a relaxed setting, with nice view over the Irrawaddy river.
Food choices are plentiful and service fast. They have really good coffee and ice cream, to our surprise. I went back a few times during my short stay in Myitkyina just for the ice cream! They are homemade and really tasty.
Should drop by if you are visiting Myitkyina.

I went to this restaurant twice because of their decent and diverse food (Kachin, Thai, Chinese, Western). Their food is quite delicious (but forget about the Western options) and the portions are huge, yet their prices are very reasonable even for Kachin standards. As mentioned previously, the restaurant is largely frequented by NGO and UN workers, government officials and business people. Live entertainment starts from 8 pm, the girls cannnot sing though, however, they are not really there for the singing anyway...The service is so so, English is definitly not their strength so it can take a while until your order has been well understood.

Very well situated in a scenic setting on the River, among lush vegetation and flowers. Very popular especially with Asian groups: Japanese, Koreans and all kind of Europeans too. Good food variety, preparation and staged presentation. Cannot go wrong.

The River View restaurant is certainly the best place to spend a relaxing evening looking at the Ayearwady , this place has a wonderful view, up and down the river. The food is lousy, prices for food and drink are correct. A lot of fly all around , is quite difficult to eat , without to have to fight with these annoying animals. It seem the place is quite famous with local people at the end of the afternoon, staff are nice and polite.

The Pizza Korner is a bit of an anomaly in this town, which is hardly the kind of place to find a hip riverfront eatery playing all your favorite 80s and country rock favorites with a great view over the Irrawaddy. Complimenting the experience you can choose every kind of cocktail from the extensive menu. The food items include all the Burmese and Kachin standards, other pan-Asian foods as well as an array of western specialties, such as pizza, although I would be loath to try some of the concoctions. The food I did have here was very good, however unusual. This place is really great on atmosphere and also is pretty much the only place that has good coffee.

Our host in Myitkyina introduced us to products of Lucky Bakery. From Breads, to rusks, to cake and cookies. Everything we had was delicious. We had something from the bakery on all 5 days of our stay here. It must have been the expression on my face that got our friends to bid us farewell with a box of cookies.
We did not buy anything ourselves, but our host picked up something every-time we passed from their. Apparently their is always crowd and things vanish if you dont go in time.
