Elegant Farmer

We stopped during the week I hear this place has large crowds on weekends during the apple season, glad we missed all that. It's a pretty large farmer type market, well known for their pies, they have a very large assortment of items to choose from and a deli with sandwiches too. Prices on some items can get a little higher than some might want but it is a tourist area so it is to be expected.

It's not a quaint little mom and pop store, it's rather large and they make and grow many items on site. They even have a railroad for the kids and young at heart to enjoy, it was not running during our visit to I cannot comment on that. Brought home some produce and stayed away from some of the baked goods. The produce was good and everyone enjoyed getting out and doing something unique.

Would visit again and see what's new on the shelves. Not sure I would fight the crowds on the weekends during the busy season though. They have a website for long distance foodies, but I would not pay the $30 plus shipping for the pie in a bag though........ I gotta say I love pies, just not that much ;) They are selling their famous pies in stores for those that want to try them out, they have reached as far as Michigan and Iowa, will be interesting to see how far they can grow.

It looked very busy when we arrived but the place is very large and seemed to accommodate everyone very nicely. I noticed they had tiles on the ceilings to help keep the noise down so we could chat. Food (fish fry) was delicious, great choices...MoreThank you for dining with us and your comments. We have a great menu beyond our fish fry and look forward to your return!

I am often in town for business and recently discovered this place. The first time I went here I had a great experience. Staff was friendly and the coffee and breakfast sandwich were really good!
I went back the following week and was very disappointed. The lady who helped me, Angela, was VERY rude. I ordered an iced tea, which tasted very bad, like it was spoiled. I politely asked if they brew their tea fresh daily, to which she replied "they try to but the tea she gave me have have been from yesterday". She then walked back into the kitchen, mumbling something about my comment to the other worker. The other worker then came out of the kitchen and I asked if there was any way to get a different type of drink, as the tea just did not taste right. She went and told Angela that I was asking for another drink, to which Angela said, "well don't give her a new cup, just rinse that one out". They gave me a new drink (in the same cup) but neither of them apologized or even said they would check into why the tea may have tasted so awful. They then proceeded to give me a cold bagel that they did not allow time to toast and sent me on my way. No one said sorry for the bad experience, have a good day or anything. I feel like this could be a great business and I'm hoping this was just a fluke thing but with employees like ANGELA, you won't be having many return customers.

I ordered a 4 meal carry out they messed my order up (forget the dressing on the salad and the meat selection was wrong) They gave me a dinner credit. I went and tried in house service...We sat at the 1/2 empty bar for 10 minutes on a Friday at 4:30 before a bartender acknowledged us...while the bartender chatted with the regulars/friends. This went on for the 2hrs we were there. We watched the two regulars/friends get their Miller lites refilled without asking as we waited over 10 minutes and still had to flag a bartender to get a drink. If you know the owners/bartenders you will get good service. If you are new expect to wait til they have time to help you. Ordered jalapeños/bacon wraps, pulled pork sandwich, and fried cod dinner...You will taste gritty smoke in your mouth the rest of your evening.

We heard that this place had the best fish fry anywhere! Well we were not disappointed. We drove from Beloit to check this place out. The ladies at the bar were so friendly and undoubtedly knew their business. Had the best drinks ever! Then to have our waitress be so friendly and accommodating to serve the best fish fry we have had. The German potatoe salad was to die for as was the fish, and potatoe pancakes. We would highly recommend this place if you are looking for an old fashion quaint supper club atmosphere with the most friendly ladies and delicious food. They know what they are doing and they do it very well! Can't wait to go back!

Antigua Real

This Latin style restaurant sports a widely diverse choice of Mexican, Caribbean and Central American dishes. For instance, I loved my guavan-glazed mahi. Endless chips and salsa. Service was spotty with entrees of the group arriving separately. The check arrived before we could order desserts (yummy fried ice cream) and had to redone. Couldn't enjoy it with decaf coffee because they oddly were 'out' of coffee at 7:30 on a Saturday evening?!? Overall though, worth a visit.
