Food and 'average, good meat. Good service but expects a 10% tip without giving any receipt or the ability 'to pay this sum included in the bill by credit card! Embarrass the customer! Return would be too embarrassing! They have lost a customer!

It is a little gourmet cafe in the centre of a little mining town in the Mountains, inside the National Park El Chico.
The best surprise you can imagine after a hike in the hills of El Chico. Amazing "pastes", a cheese pie you cannot miss (best I ever tried) and great "café de olla". It is a charming little shop in the main street, right in front of the police station and health centre. It is impossible to imagine such an incredible, sophisticated cafe in such a little town in the middle of the Mountains. The prices are great, too: coffee, "flan" and paste for $24 Mexican pesos. Unbeatable.

Decided on this restaurant after checking it and El Serrinallo. Tough time choosing but decided on Real del Monte as we thought the interior had more character appeal. It also helped our decision enjoying the lady frying tortillas at the entrance.
Arrived at 6:15 PM, not busy, chose our own table, service started out rapid and attentive but slowed as the meal progressed. Ordered a 375 mil bottle of Spanish Crianza and was quoted $170 Pesos. Charged $210 when the bill arrived. Started with the tortilla soup and it was tasty, a bit salty plus the chicken consommé, also good with lots of chicken. Mains were the Chicken Supreme, a chicken breast flattened then filled with cheese and ham (bland flavour) and the Trucha al Maguey (small fish cooked in tinfoil with huitlacoche and spices) which was passable.
The restaurant has an interesting old Mexican feel but misses the mark on service and food. Washrooms not checked, credit cards accepted.

well we asked at the parking lot for a good place to eat they quickly said La Blanca! I like the restaurant since I saw it from the street, its right across the Relog Monumental in downtown Pachuca... The food they serve its regional and we were it the mood for it, the presentation was good, good portions and good flavor, excellent service and great atmosphere... a place to go back for sure...

There are many places to buy pastes in Real del Monte. el Portal has added interest for its location.
The is a large kitchen and includes a restaurant located in the historic portal building across from the main Centro church (Inglesia del Rosario). Fascinating to watch half a dozen employees prepping pastes stuffed with various ingredients ready for baking in the paste oven. They have branched out from the basic original meat based pastes (as have most paste bakers to include empanadas filled with fruit.
When in Real del Monte - give a paste a try.

Recommended!
We went for lunch because this restaurant was recomended by a friend. For me is the best restaurant in real del monte. Ask for the tlacoyos mineros or the enchiladas mineras.
Sopa de haba is very good!
And if you are a dairy person, for breakfast ask for a concha con nata. Delicious!!!
Deserts are not very good but you eat there and then go for a delicious sweet paste in plateros or tejeda or los portales or any other. All local pastes are delicious.
Also you con find a good ice cream in santa clara.
Don't miss it!

Restaurant with 6 decades of experience serving traditional mexican and local food. The very first restaurant in Real del Monte; original recipes and personal attention of her owner, founder and director Doña Avelina López.Creators of famous local dishes such as Enchiladas mineras, Pulque bread and others.

This is a new addition to the Bife family. The menu is varied and different than the original Bife also in Pachuca. They offer steak and seafood which is all pretty good. It is a really good spot for a group dinner and the restaurant is in the Camino Real hotel complex.
