After spending two weeks in the McCarthy area I really looked forward to dining at the Potato and considered it home. They offer the most variety of foods in the area all with a local touch and many local ingredients. The Copper River salmon dish was amazing and I found the McCarthy muffin with its house-made sausage a great way to start the day. The option of inside or outside seating and very attentive and friendly staff made it feel like home.

We are known for the Meatball Sub however every dish has a following, & fresh baked goods. We are lucky enough to serve people from all around the world as visitors to the largest National Park in N. America, and we have tastes to accommodate everyone. We also cater to food allergies & diet restrictions. This place has fantastic food. I only wish I knew about it sooner and not on the last day. If you are doing the tour of the mines make sure to stop by here for lunch or dinner. (Note - My wife is vegetarian and said the food was great as well)

We met the owner Neil and he was a very nice man. Elise was the bartender and was very nice as well. Super fries were amazing and so was the burger. A good stop for a few drinks as well.

Our party of five had the most amazing meals at the McCarthy Lodge Bistro. I've traveled the world and eaten in many fine dining establishments so I wasn't really expecting this to compare. Our whole party was blown away by the amazing food we experienced. Everything about our evening was 5 Star, the service, presentation and tastes were beyond wonderful.

This was after 15 September when virtually everything in McCarthy and Kennecott are closed. They opened up for a late lunch for us at the request of Blackburn Cabins and the sandwiches and pickled vegetables were excellent. It's a tiny place just prior to the bridge but they make a special effort to provide unique food. Don't surprise Doug the bear dog when sleeping - otherwise he is very friendly.
