Where to Eat in Mason: The Best Restaurants and Bars

April 15, 2018 Madelene Haan

In the resort area of southwest Ohio, Mason features two major theme parks that attract families from all over the Midwest. Kings Island, the bigger of the two theme parks, has won "Best Kids Area in the World" for six consecutive years in a row from Amusement Today and remains a major attraction. Before they head to the U.S. Open, some of tennis' biggest stars show off their skills each summer in the Men's Masters and Women's Open.

Had an hour before going to a play. The server assured us that they had several menu items that they could meet out timing. I had lamb and beef schwarma with fresh hot pita bread. My wife had chicken schwarma. Our friend had lamb cabbage rolls. Everything was wonderful. The pitas were hot off the grill. The lamb was perfect! The owner pitched in to make sure our meal was on time and perfect! We were out in 1 hour with time to spare! Highly recommend this restaurant!

The Wildflower Cafe

The owner/chef Todd Hudson uses locally grown ingredients to create fresh and very delicious dishes. He has won several awards. It is in a beautiful old home and they serve locally roasted coffee and locally bottled wines. It is a wonderful place.

And The Wildflower Cafe has enough stuff for every heart! After a day at the W&S Open in 93-degree heat for 5 of us, we were a party of 8 on a Saturday night. This included a 7-year-old, a 16-month-old and a frazzled grandma (that’s me). Our server, Gracie, was balm to our souls. Her service was phenomenal and so was the food she presented. From the imaginative cocktails to the surprising starters to the excellent entrees, it was all good. We were more than fond of the Mushroom Fonduta (I’m serious -- ORDER THIS), my husband’s filet was ambrosia, my chicken pot pie was a delight, our daughter and son-in-law are still having dreams about the lobster mac & cheese, and the kids’ menu (yes, they have a kids’ menu!) met even our granddaughter’s most stringent criteria. In addition to the gracious service and beyond-delicious food, the setting in this older home is lovely (and so is the lighting). What’s more, the staff worked with us to meet our reservation time (they’re so busy that it’s important to make reservations well in advance). Free parking is plentiful. If we lived in Mason, we’d be here every week. We are wild for The Wildflower!

In the area for the first time. Found this little gem by searching Trip Advisor. Mahi wrap was awesome. Crinkle fries were good. My husband got the Turkey burger and cup of chili. Both were very good. Service was friendly and efficient. Atmosphere was very interesting & comfortable. Would definitely stop in again.

Two Cities Pizza Co.

When it comes to pizza, everyone can agree it’s the perfect pick-me-up. No question. But ask people what style of pizza reigns supreme? Well, that’s the real debate, isn’t it? Does the title go to Chicago’s deep dish, with it’s endless amounts of hearty marinara and cheese? What about New York-style thin crust? It’s crisp, it’s soft, it’s foldable -- it’s amazing. Luckily, the debate can wait, because we’re bringing the authentic flavors of both the Windy City and the Five Boroughs to the people of Cincy. Whatever your pizza preference may be, we’re willing to bet we’ll be seeing you soon.

This was very easy to get to, great parking, awesome building, great staff...and then the pizza...OMG...it was outstanding!! We got the special which allows pizza from NY and from Chicago...when combined with a decent selection of beers on tap...this place was great. We were driving thru and found it-I wish there was one closer to us in Cleveland.

Pitrelli's is fantastic. Great, professional, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful staff, nice pleasant, low key atmosphere, and the FOOD....perfect seasoning, perfect temperature, perfect portions (love taking home some), wide selection. Definitely, a go to restaurant.

Houston's is a 70's supper club that never moved into the 2000. But maybe that is the charm of the place. Last time I went the menu was 5 or 6 pages. This time 2. Maybe 2 dozen items.
The food lacked any depth of flavor. I have special dietary needs and can not even make it through a kids meal. Don't even think of a special request.

Blaze Pizza

Reviewed By Rita0001 - Cincinnati, Ohio

My twin grandsons recently had a birthday and wanted to celebrate the occasion by taking their friends to a local water and amusement park. Obviously, we wanted to feed this hungry bunch. Blaze Pizza fit the bill. Each boy could order a personal pizza and select what they wanted from a variety of meats, vegetables and cheeses. Each pizza is ready in exactly 180 seconds; so there's little down time waiting for food. Each was given an empty cup so they could self-serve their drinks. Great thing: no bickering over getting a plain cheese pizza versus pepperoni and sausage. Personally, I appreciated the calorie count associated with each ingredient. Not a place I would recommend for a business or romantic dinner. But perfect for fast and good pizza at a reasonable price.

We had a small reunion of 12 people that some of us hadn't seen in over 45 years. We called in advance but they wouldn't give us a reservation. We ended up waiting over an hour to be seated. Although the food is excellent the staff didn't seem to care if we ever sat down.
I know of other people who said they will never go back.
I have to say our waitress was great.
Think I will try another location.

Tony's Of Cincinnati

Reviewed By Stephen H - Greater Cincinnati

My review is written in the context of Cincinnati being one of the most competitive steakhouse cities in the US .... there is LOTS of stellar competition. In most cities, Tony's would be terrific. But in Cincinnati, competing against the likes of the Ruby restaurants, Eddie Merlot's, Capital Grill, Ruth's Chris, Morton's, etc., there are better choices. As advertised, the steak itself was outstanding ... prepared like the Ruby steaks ...slightly charred on the outside to seal in the flavor, and inside cooked to perfection. Another big advantage for Tony's is you don't get nickel-and-dimed a la carte .. the steaks include salad and side. All the food we ate was great. The server was fantastic (Matthew ... he gets five stars). He was right on top of everything we needed when we needed it. So what was less great? It was a special occasion for us ... the restaurant called that morning to confirm our reservation and our occasion. They then promised me a booth for that evening for a quiet romantic dinner. On arrival, we were not given one of the several open booths ... we were given a very small table for two in the corner. I pointed it out to the person seating us, and she just looked confused. We settled for the table. Just a change in expectations set by the restaurant. They did seat other two-person groups in the booths, so the number of us was not the problem. The restaurant itself is very open with music pumped in overhead ... less quiet and romantic than the ambiance you can find at the other stellar steakhouses there. Again, in any other city, this steakhouse would rank amongst the best, but not yet here.
