Travelled the 5 or so hours south of Chillan to Ski at Corralco. Went to the Tourist info Malalcahuello .Friendly bloke who spoke no English directed us to stay at the Cassa Esquina.
Arrived to another friendly greeting by the staff(Again no English but we expect that as we were in Chile). Paid about $80.00 PN. Small room in a rustic old building, all good. Nice bed, good linen, modern bathroom fittings, cable TV etc.
Ate at the restaurant as there appeared to be nowhere else nearby. Food was fine. Many people not staying there were eating there as well.
Breakfast was included and was the usual fare of ham and cheese but it was a bit better quality than we were usually served. Freshly squeezed orange juice was a nice touch and on day 2 we had eggs.
We had a good day skiing at the resort and were practically the only ones there. Great place for a good days skiing. Small resort,4 lifts in all.The runs were perfectly groomed and great fun was had. Scenery was first class. Beautiful in all directions. Chillian hospitality was received everywhere we went .Will recommend this place to all.
Rather than drive back north as planned we had another night at the Cassa.

Spent 4 nights with my family of 4. Two young boys loved the open spaces and trails and creek. We stayed in the Mapuche cabin. Highly recommend. One big open space with two wood burning stoves. Can sleep 5.
The food is great. Like a home cooked meal!!! Try the ravioli. Breakfast is basic but good quality and taste.
Best thing about the place are the kind, caring and attentive owners!!
Highly recommended for a summer or winter retreat from the city.

If you want a relaxing atmosphere and delicious local cuisine don't miss this place. Twelve of us dined on a variety of meats, salads, complemented with local cuisine. I order a variety of meats served with slightly spicy merken. Merken, a seasoning of Goat's Horned Chile created by the indigenous Mapuche. Salads included fresh vegetables and pine nuts (piñones) from the national tree of Chile, pehuén. No one in the group had a complaint. Highly recommended.

In our areas we have a pleasant place for the whole family. Our facilities include ample spaces and Playgrounds, cabins, rooms and apartment. Its capacities range from 8 to 2 pax, depending on the service. We have ample parking with ramps for wheelchairs and cars and, access for all types of vehicles. Also, a heliport properly signposted. To our visitors we provide for free, bicycles, sleds, data, information of the surroundings, and more.

We had dinner in this restaurant a few hours ago. First thing I do is ask for a sprite, and shortly after they bring me an already opened bottle. Although it bothers me I didn't care so much, that kind of thing happens with a relatively high frequency in Chile, so I don't say anything. Next thing I order a pizza, I choose the nativa camaron pizza, which has shrimps and vegetables. Before bringing our order they serve bread which was a bit old, and then they serve the food. The problem was that after eating two thirds of the pizza I find a long hair deep in the dough, so I tell the waitress. She takes the plate to the cook, and he shows it to another guy. After a while the last guy comes to our table (I think it was the owner) and apologizes, saying that they will give us a discount. After finishing our drinks we ask for the bill, noticing they discounted 4000 pesos for the problem, which was less than half the value of the pizza (and less than 10% of the total bill). We pay. Then they give us a bag of some kind of candy before we leave, which was past expiration date.

This restaurant is a charming cozy place. The food was a lot better than what we expected, the locos apanados were delicious, as well as the ceviche and the desserts. The price is pretty good and tbh we weren't expecting this quality in a place like Malalcahuello. It's certainly a lot better than the hotel restaurant. Ask for a cup of herbs tea (té de hierbas) and they will bring you a cute tray with the actual dried herbs. This place is superb, a definitely MUST :)

This "sangucheria" is conviniently located on your way to or back from Corralco ski Resort. It is family run so it is warm and with great service. A place to stopover many times for coffe, beer and a yumy chilean Sandwich.We truly appreciate your comment and the fact that you noticed 2 very important things that we try to convey, one is the warmth in our customer service and of course the quality of our preparations.
