Mae Hong Son (Thai: แม่ฮ่องสอน, pronounced [mɛ̂ː hɔ̂ŋ sɔ̌ːn]) is a town (thesaban mueang) in north-west Thailand, capital of Mae Hong Son Province. It is in the Shan Hills, near the border with Burma along the banks of the River Pai. As of 2005, the town had some 6,023 inhabitants. The town covers the tambon Chong Kham of the Mueang Mae Hong Son district. Mae Hong Son is 883 km north of Bangkok and 251 km north-west of Chiang Mai.

This little restaurant serves delicious pizzas and pastas. It also serves Thai food. It´s in the center of Mae Hong Son. Just across the street the Night Market starts. So after dinner you strawl the Night Market. The service is great. There´s also music in the restaurant, they play mainly American Golden Oldies, like the Eagles, John Denver, and so on. The restaurant is clean. Dishes cost between 60-190 Baht.

I am so disappointed to have chosen this "restaurant" today - it has left a bitter taste in my mouth, both literaly and figuratively.
Pros - glass came from freezer, pizza had a good base, pleasant basic surroundings
Cons - French fries cooked in very stale oil (described by my son as tasting cheesey); pizza covered in oregano such that it overpowered everything and made it bitter, a "Caesar Salad" that simply wasn't (an unchopped mixed salad with a few bits of bacon and croutons, offered with mayonnaise and a super spicy picalilli style sauce - weird!), and an overfriendly lady who variously stared at us or repeatedly asked my son endless tedious questions whilst we were trying to eat the "food". Not great!

This place is amazing. We stayed in Mae Hong Son three nights and ate here everyday. The salad is excellent, full of fresh vegetables and a homemade vinaigrette. The burger was delicious as well. For breakfast we had the omelette w ham, thick cut toast, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. If you’re in town give this place a visit.

On my many visits to Pai, i have eaten here several times........I have always found the food to be good fresh, and the next level up from the usual traveler's fare served at many restaurants in Pai.
If you want to get away from the usual backpackers food,more towards real Thai (only towards)...this is worth a visit

We were super stoked to find this sweet little restaurant. The food was great and the veggies were fresh and crisp. We were staying in the guesthouse and had lots of opportunity to try many of the items on the menu. We were never disappointed. The owner was always around and happy to chat and show us her lovely garden. She was very accommodating and happy to fulfill our special requests for coconut milk in our shakes and no egg in the Phad Thai.
The menu, available in both Thai and English, is mostly Thai food with a small western breakfast selection and includes fruit shakes and juices. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable, and there is a small book exchange. Free wi-fi. Open from 7am to 7pm. If you are ever in Mae Sariang do yourself a favour and stop by.

We visited here as two couples, for dinner one night, and lunch the following day. We found the staff friendly, and the food tasty. I don't recall seeing any Western selections, all we ate were Thai selections. I was happily surprised to find vegetarian selections on the menu, and the few I tried, I enjoyed.
If I find myself back in town, which is entirely possible since I drove "the Loop" but haven't ridden "the Loop" yet, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the food here! We ordered all sorts of different Lanna style dishes and all were superb. The wait staff was also attentive and the owner stopped by to make sure everything was O.K. You can tell this place is doing a good business due to the number of customers we saw there. One of the few places I actually enjoyed in Mae Hong Son.

Our 9 year old begged for western food after one week in Thailand and we are very glad she did.
The pizza was fantastic, especially the BBQ chicken.
The place and atmosphere enjoyable
Would definitely recommend if you have a hankering for pizza or a
non Thai meal

Son & Mom is the opposite from pretentious. It is what I would call a 'sweet place' with a clear 'local atmosphere'. I really like tiny places like this, where you are basically sitting in someone's living room. But often the food in such places is not what I'd hope for. But not so at Son & Mom!
The food is nice, honest and tasty. No intricate, complex dishes, but simple, honest food. I like it!
Been there twice over the past week. Haven't tried the bread, but hear good stories about the homemade bread. Next time...

A nice place for a beer overlooking the lake and the night market. There is a nice upstairs area where you can relax (free wifi, too) and a menu with a decent range of food, including a whole vegetarian section. The food wasn't anything special, but was perfectly fine if you want something a bit more substantial than you can get at the market (might particularly be the case for vegans, though the lovely lady doing the salads at the stall when you first enter the market (the end by the Wat) made a very spicy and totally vegan one for me when I asked her. It was YUMMY. The lady working at this restaurant was super friendly and made food for us despite being rushed off her feet. A decent place for a break.
