This is a friendly place set up much like a cafeteria with different plates of food available or you can just order meat and the sides of your choice. Really liked the bbq Turkey, beef ribs and corn bread.

The title basically covers it. We stopped in for some good coffee. And that's what we got. We also picked up a breakfast sandwich that was very good and a Danish. This is where you going, town because there is not a Starbucks.

I was on the road & figured DQ was a decent place to drive through - it's a chain right?
I ordered the chicken sandwich blt & an iced tea.
I exited the drive through, pulled over to situate my meal before driving off. Glad I did because my sandwich was just bread, bacon, & lettuce.
They literally forgot to put the chicken in it. I understand that fast food isn't 'healthy', but the quality of bacon & lettuce also this location was paltry. I drove back through & just got my money back for the sandwich.
The tea also tasted as though they hadn't cleaned out the service container for a loooong time. I tossed it rather than risk getting sick on the road.
I love DQ but not this location. Whataburger is across the street. I'll try that next time.

Very helpful and courteous staff; our barista recommended a Mexican Mocha, and it was delicious. Instead of chocolate syrup, he used a powdered cocoa that was mixed with some cinnamon and vanilla and I forget what else, but it was wonderful. Will definitely go back.

If you like old school, you'll like Smitty's. I can't imagine its changed much over the decades. Great meat, reasonable sides, and an atmosphere that's authentic and true to the food.

Beef brisket was excellent, and ribs were very good. The jalapeno smoked sausage was a bit soft and packed too loose for my preference, but still very tasty.

For the quality of the food, the price is very reasonable. $10-$12 a person should be enough that everyone walks away stuffed.

Cash only, but they do have an ATM.

Fun little place in Lockhart’s beautiful town square. Great unique variety of pizza, all delicious. We had The Out of Towner and is was so yummy.
We normally don’t do dessert but we could not resist the peanut butter pie with ganache or the chocolate pecan pie, we had one of each both with a scoop of Amy’s Mexican Vanilla ice cream.
It was all worth the extra mile on our workout. The bar has a nice wine and beer selection.
Ask for Natalie for great service, excellent menu selections and an upbeat fun attitude to make the whole experience perfect.
Great place for families, individuals, couples or large groups. I can’t wait to go back.

We recently visited Chisholm Trail Barbq because it was listed on the Texas BBQ Trail map. I would rate it average. Not great, not terrible. The flavor was average and the texture was slightly below average. Definitely stop by if you are looking to check off each of the BBQ trail stops like we were. Otherwise, there's better out there.

Lockhart Bistro

Reviewed By LuckyWest - Austin, TX

Great food and fantastic cocktails, and very decent service for smaller town cafe. Only complaint would be that seating isn't all that comfortable (metal bistro chairs) and cavernous interior seems overly urban/bar-like atmosphere, a little out of sync with the courthouse square charms of Lockhart. Still, a wonderful meal and a great experience.
