Latacunga (Spanish pronunciation: [lataˈkuŋɡa]) is a plateau town of Ecuador, capital of the Cotopaxi Province, 89 km (55 mi) south of Quito, near the confluence of the Alaquez and Cutuchi rivers to form the Patate, the headstream of the Pastaza. At the time of census 2010 Latacunga had 98,355 inhabitants, largely mestizo and indigenous.

We dined here twice during our stay in Latacunga and on both occasions the service and meal was excellent. Pizzas are thin based and perfect consistency. Toppings are generous. Also had twhe vegetarian lasagne which again was nicely cooked and contained plentiful vegetables. Service is prompt, very polite and friendly. Good choice for limited dining options in Latacunga.

I had the California Burger which was awesome and came with a side of salsa (e.g. champignon). Cesar Salad was a bit meh and the place is cold at night and lacks atmosphere.It is a pleasure to receive a comment from you, your comment is very important and helps us to grow and provide you with a better service, thank you for visiting us.

Chugchucara (chook-choo-kara) is my new favorite food. A plate filled with roasted potatoes, roast pork, fried plantains, chicharrones, popcorn, roasted corn kernals, and empanadas mejido, the best empanadas I've tried in a very long time, sweet to the taste and filled with a white cheese. Don't pass up the mote con chicharrones as well--hominy (mote) with fried pork/pork skin. The restaurant has ample space and is very clean and you might get a chance to have a close encounter with an alpaca on the grounds..

We read about this place in a guidebook and thought we'd give it a try. They don't sell alcohol on Sundays in the entire city, but they sold my husband a beer. (They wouldn't sell me wine, however.) We each got two plates of food and we each only ate half of it. If there are two of you, you can just share one plate, it was more than enough food.

Difficult to find when it is never open. It doesn't even look like a restaurant anymore, more like a classroom. It was probably a bad sign that my hotel had never heard of it in such a small town.

Cunani is a coffee and handicraft shop located in the city center. In our coffee shop we provide delicious ravioli, traditional dishes such as humitas, empanadas and quimbolitos, accompanied by hot chocolate, juices, smoothies and other beverages. All this in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the only place in the city made of bamboo. In our shop we offer crafts and souvenirs such as postcards, shawls, pottery and many other items made in Ecuador.

The food delish, the service above and beyond, and the decadent treats (hot wine; chocolate etc) were the perfect 'hygge' food items after the Quilotoa trek. Actually, were pretty bloody good before the Quilotoa trek too.
The owner, Maria, helped us out with a couple of things travel-wise, was super-friendly and nice to chat to about all things travel and politics, and even sorted us out with some delicious breakfasts.
This was a very nice place to be. Thanks Maria.
(Think Maria should open up a second venue in Quilotoa - they were all rubbish up there; Cunani's 2 would have been perfect the evening of reaching the lagoon town).

These guys really know how to cook good meat - grilled fillets, chicken, lomo saltado...all their meat is tasty, tender and coming in large portions! Also tried their Peruvian fish soup and that was also great. Our fav restaurant so far in Ecuador, and we tried quite a few!
