Me and 2 colleagues dinner. Good food. Good attentive service. Cozy. Hard to fault for an honest homely delicious meal. Will come again.

This is the typical small town establishment. We only made use of the bar and restaurant. The service was good, the food average and the prices reasonable. As expected, there is not a huge selection on the menu. The ribs can be recommended. There are only two restaurants to choose from in Ladysmith, this is one of them. It was very quiet when we were there but from what I have heard and just the look, I am sure that some good parties have taken place here!

Stranded with car trouble, the garage staff recommended Penelopes. The effort of the owner is obvious. In the grounds of the Royal Hotel, which is a blast from the past, with its brightly shone brass fixtures, this eatery is an unexpected oasis. Service is so good, cakes freshly baked and lots of effort put into everything. You can pick up a book to read & purchase while you eat in peace and quiet. Cute!
