Stopped for breakfast on way to Kandy. The place offers assorted snacks, but I would suggest one sticks to only bakery treats. Service was excellent and the tea was fabulous. Would certainly visit this place again.

Wahalkada

Reviewed By Sirimewan - Great Yarmouth, United Kingdom

I discovered Wahalkada in a previous visit and was looking forward to returning. There are several features that interested me in the previous visit. Location and architecture are two of them. It's built on sloping land next on the bank of a small river / stream taking advantage of the view the site offers. In a country where most of the buildings are just reproductions of featureless square boxes the building itself is designed sensitive to the topography of the site, climatic conditions and taking cues from historic buildings of the country. High ceilings and open spaces take advantage of the natural convection making air-conditioning unnecessary. The building even encircles a massive tree adding to the ambience and feeling of space.
Wahalkada serves authentic Sri Lankan quisine, may be a bit spicy for the uninitiated western traveller. There is a reasonable spread of Sri Lankan food in the buffet making it possible not to be bored even if one returns soon.
Located about a third of the way between Colombo and Kandy it's conveniently located for a comfort-break clean and convenient. It's a pity they don't take full advantage of the location by offering snacks and tea in addition to main meals.
The staff polite and attentive, on the whole I would like to see this place prosper and serve the travelling public for a long time. I hope the management takes my criticism of the restricted menus to offer more options than just main meals.

We stopped here for a lunch break whilst travelling along the Colombo road in Keggale. Whilst the Inn has rather a tired appearance it is a good place to stop and eat. Obviously the best food is Sri Lankan rice and curry which is 'local' and authentic. Prices are reasonable and staff very welcoming.

They offer breakfast , lunch & dinner. Only halal food is served. Had our breakfast on our way to Kandy. There were about 12-14 items to select including fruits. Breakfast is in buffet style and cost 350 each . Its worth for money . Good thing is that they don't charge for small children and 1/2 rate for young ones. We tried there teas it was 50/- and the tea is fantastic. Definitely visit again if we are going to Kandy.

First impression :
Seems to be a little higher range than the usual snacks that we can find in Sri Lanka.
Reception :
You are welcomed in english (quite rare in the restaurants of this area) and people seem to be happy when you say "Ayubowan" when you arrive.
Food :
Local dishes, plenty to eat, tasty but still very hot and spicy.
Hygiene :
A little more respected here. Tables are quite clean.
Service :
Very quick and reactive.
Conclusion :
Even its prices seem to be 20%more expensive, you will enjoy to eat at this more clean and pleasant place. He's the only one open up to these hours in the area.

This is old CIC "Juizee" outlet to your left before Ambepussa fro Colombo side.
The ambiance is still the same but quality has dropped. But in comparison to most crowded eating places around Ambepussa and their own Foodland outlet further down on to your right this place is good.
you can enjoy the buffet or order from their menu with a decent choice.Food is halal.
Rest rooms used to be cleaner and they should look at improving that
