Spoilt for the choices of sea food. Well aware of my cholesterol levels, therefore I was looking for something different...Look out for green colour, long to medium sized brinjals. It has a distinctive taste to it. Best served poached, with a bit of sambal belacan.

The service is fast, price is reasonable, and the taste is superb! I really love omelette, fried rice, mushroom soup, and oblong. The big-size drink is also the best. Go there when you are really hungry, worth every penny.

OK but staff could have been friendlier. Dining area on 2nd floor may not be accessible to those in wheel chairs or with week knees. Takeaway is downstairs. Parking is a problem, so got to look around for empty parking spaces.

This is a small family run cafe serving mainly light bites and finger food. Prices are ridiculously cheap with good portions. Do try their Mac N Cheese, Keropok Lekor, Pepperoni Sandwich, Kedah Cola and definitely their homemade cakes and cookies. Its location is somewhere within a house next to a bundle shop.

Fatinnaz Corner Cendol Pulut

Reviewed By SheaSonia - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Also known as Fatin Corner. You can use Waze to find the restaurant. I came from the "wrong" side and didn't see the restaurant as I was looking to my left. The restaurant is opposite the road and you should see the signboard if you come from the other way (from town).

What's famous here?
The cendol pulut of course. There are a few choices for how you can have your cendol. I took mine with laici. The friendly staff was helpful and patience while I ponder on what to eat.
Most people come here for the cendol pulut (sticky rice). I arrived just in time for lunch and so I ordered chicken rice, noodle soup and cucur udang (prawn fritters). Cucur udang is different than my favourite batter fried prawn although I've used the same translation before. Think of it as fried cakes flavoured with shrimps.

Taste - Average. The chicken rice and soup were good. Cendol was okay but I prefer Banting style :) Nothing bad but nothing memorable either
Price - At total of RM20.50, I'd say value for money. Remember to memorise what you ate when you go pay at the cashier :)
Ambiance - Family-friendly, spacious and shaded. Table cloth could use a change tho.

Is it worth a visit?
Yes. If you love cendol pulut.

It is good to know that Kangar, Perlis now has its very own McDonald. Before they have to travel to Alor Setar, Kedah should Perlisians wnat to have a bite of Big Mac. Since I am so used to Mc Donald, it is indeed a relief :)
The service is wonderful, these people are like always, Friendly. The food is good, I mean the taste is the same, so I guess the QC is doing his/her job well. One best thing for this McDonald is, it is open 24/7. Hungry for a bite in the middle of the night, you should have no problem.

Location: Behind McDonald's of Kangar, Perlis.
Stall: Covered stall with Seating area. Lots of tables and chairs to cater for small and big groups. Local staff are friendly with prompt service.
Food: Delicious malay-styled food. Nasi minyak with dishes like fried chicken, chicken with sauces, cockels, liver, beef (masak merah or rendang), sotong, boiled vegetables, fried vegetables, eggs and salted eggs. Most importantly, the mix of different curry sauces.
Price: Not that cheap for a local eat out in Perlis. But the delicious food may justify to the price to some people.
Overall, it is still a good choice for dinner, as not many tasty stalls open during night time.

Blackwood Coffee & Chocolate

Reviewed By Su2122013 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

A good place to dine and hangout in Alor Setar as the setting is very cosy though not as interesting as the Kangar branch. We were there quite late, past dinner time. So we only ordered a nutella banana pancake with haagen-dazs, popcorn chicken and salt & pepper squid. The pancake failed me. Popcorn chicken and squid were just average. Drinks are good. Price is reasonable.
