Spinach, artichoke, and cheese rangoons are scrumptious. Love the cheese bites. Onion petals, mushrooms, and corn nuggets are also great. Good burgers and sandwiches on bakery buns. Also specialty pizza. Best monster cookies ever! And, if you have room, a large selection of hand-dipped ice cream in waffle cones. One of our favorite places to eat.

Toni's Family Restaurant

Reviewed By CARL H - Mexico, Missouri

We spent the weekend in the Havana, IL area overindulging in the Central Illinois
Dragway Fall Nostalgia race and had the opportunity to eat at Toni's.

The food was excellent, the service prompt, the prices were very reasonable.

This is just the kind of place we hope to find when we are on the road.

This nice family restaurant is located right on the main drag, near motels and
McD's.

We look forward to future Drag events at Central Ills and the opportunity to
once again enjoy meals at Toni's...

Check em out, you'll be glad you did...!

Hardee's

The Hardee's in Havana IL greets you into town upon entering from the West or South.
Conveniently located at the jct near the Illinois river bridge.
You can't go wrong with Hardee's offerings and this one is right on par.
I suggest you use a "buy one get one free" coupon. In my humble opinion, Hardee's
are too expensive without one...!

The Shed

Reviewed By ken s - Manito, Illinois

The Shed is a small rural bar/diner. Located several miles north of Havana Illinois, it lies on the edge of the Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge in a wide spot in the road known as Buzzville just south of (and I'm not kidding here) a place called Goofy Ridge.

The Shed has table, booth and bar seating for around 75 people. During prime dining hours on Friday and Saturday the place fills up quickly so phoning ahead for seating on those days is advised.

There is a full bar but I'd guess that most of the revenue is from food sales. It is a clean, friendly place and stays that way under the watchful eye of the owner, Mel, and his efficient staff. Mel, a die hard Cardinals fan, has installed several flat screen TVs to provide patrons with Red Bird based entertainment.

The diner boasts a fairly comprehensive menu. Mel has a couple of local favorites one being his Mel's Chop. The Mel's Chop is a thick cut boneless pork chop that has been coated with a specially seasoned coating then deep fried. It comes out tender and moist.

This evening however, both my wife and I opted for a tenderloin sandwich, Mine with pixie cut fries, hers with baked potato. She had a canned soda and I had two Bud Light bottles. Our meals were quickly delivered, and tasted fantastic. The total (including tax) was $25.80.

For non-mid westerners, a tenderloin sandwich is a pork chop (some use butterfly pork chops) that are pounded relatively thin, dipped in egg (or milk) coated with seasoned breading (or crushed crackers) and deep fried to a crispy golden brown. Starting with a good sized chop is a must and if made too thin, the tenderloin will be dry and chewy after cooking.

At The Shed the tenderloins are perfectly sized. After cooking the tenderloin dwarfs the 5 inch bun and is about 10 inches in diameter, Load that up with dill pickle slices and plenty of onion and you have a wondrous meal.

If you are going to eat at The Shed, bring a big appetite and be prepared to ask for a box for leftovers.

Having to eat quickly due to appointments we decided on McDonalds the last two days. Same food as always and service was no different. Orders were not complete as well as incorrectly filled. Only time this drive thru was fast was when they were giving away food if order not filled timely. Should have went to Hardee's

Ordered pizza for supper after Christmas program. Arrived at time it was to be ready however it was not. Assistant Manager (I believe) informed that is was not ready and apologized. She kept me informed the whole time as well as apologizing each time. Pizza was good but if not for Assistant Manager, the rating would have been poor because of the wait.

Recommended by the lady at the Red Lion Motor Lodge. We stayed the night in Havana at the end of our Spoon River Drive tour-Oct 2017.

This Pub & Grill did not disappoint. Wonderful food. 3 of us in the party we ordered; ribeye steak-fantastic!, pork tenderloin sandwich-huge & tasty!, BLT- can't go wrong with a classic. We were all HIGHLY SATISFIED. The bartender Mitch was a character and hope is there still next year when we return - he makes the place fun & lively! The food, the atmosphere and the drinks were great! HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go here. For "northerners" like us 3, this is reminiscent or a Wisconsin pub & grill - JUST LIKE IT!
Go here to eat & drink you will not be disappointed. All the staff was super friendly, nice clean bar.
I wish it was up north by us!!!!
