First visit. Excellent wait staff. Very informative regarding gluten free options. Helpful suggestions. The Michigan Salad was wonderful. Bathroom is a long walk to basement but it was fine. Only downside is price. $30 for two salads and two iced teas. Won’t be going back soon.

The sign on the door says 'Home Cooking: and it don't lie. This is the kind of place we like: honest, straightforward, well prepared food, Although by title its specialty is seafood (fried fish) we also tried breakfast, burgers and salads- all good & made to order. Wished we had room for dessert, they listed several pies & strawberry short cake. The place is small, plain and could be cleaner but the staff and food are great.

I have given Dairy Queen a few tries this year, but will go elsewhere in the future. Their prices are through the roof, the restaurant and workers are always a mess. I have also noticed improper food/money handling procedures as well. I believe they are moving to a new location; hopefully things will improve when they move...

Support the local business and get a great meal here. Everything was very fresh, nice presentation. I had a salad with the restaurant -made lemon dressing and a tomato bisque that was more chunky than creamy (which I like). Interesting cocktails and root beers!

Biggby Coffee Hastings

Did you know the mocha java flavor doesn't have any chocolate in it? Just an interesting fact we learned at one of the biggby coffee shops. It comes from a port called java. My husband went twice. The first visit is 5 stars the second visit is 4 stars. The staff made a difference in the rating. No one was rude, but its the attention to the details that matter. He purchased some coffee beans and the girl didn't weight them to charge him correctly. He didn't get a full pound in the bag either. She was more interested in ringing him up and getting him out of there, even tho there was no one behind him. Where the first visit the girl was very chatty and interactive as well as attentive. She even had to remake the coffee ahead of him because the woman ordered her drink wrong, and they fixed it for free, then gave the unwanted drink away to my husband instead of just tossing it away. We found the coffee to be as strong as what we were used to at home and brought home several bags of beans to enjoy later.

Don't let the outside deter you! This is Mom and Pop dining at its best. The building is older, but inside the holiday decorations set the tone. They are as folksy and fun as the staff. We were treated like regulars on our very first visit.

We came too late for the breakfast we hoped to have, but followed the staff recommendation for lunch and boy am I glad we did.

We both had the Pub Grilled Chicken Sandwich and Pub Fries. Both were outstanding!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Stopped here while riding motorcycles. First time here, got seated right away ( it was Sunday ) server got us drinks first ( we were very hot temp 93° plus jeans, boots and helmets) we looked over menu. Friend got a beef chimmganga and 1 tamale. I got 2 soft tacos with Mexican rice and beans. Husband got wet burrito and tamale. Our friend ending up with 2 chimmgangas but said nothing to waiter. Said it was to good not to eat both. Mine was very good, only thing was because of the juices from the meat my tacos were soggy on the bottom. Husband really liked his also. We will be back!

I was in town for business and happened upon Richie's while walking through Hasting's beautiful downtown. Richie's is nothing fancy, but I enjoyed sitting at the counter and having a burger (ground daily), crispy fries, and a coke. The whole meal was under $8, was good and hot, and quite tasty. There's a sign on the wall telling everyone that it takes a little longer to cook a good burger (they used the word "bare" instead of "bear" but I'm sure somebody has told them that many times over the years). I could smell the homemade chicken noodle soup (since I was sitting at the counter)...and wished I'd ordered a cup. Deserts also looked good, but I didn't partake. The place is right downtown near the County Courthouse. Wonderful downtown with free parking and nice storefronts.
