Harold's Restaurant & Lounge

Every meal that my family has eaten at Harold's Restaurant has been five star no questions asked! Harold's sister Dinah greets you with her infectious smile and makes you feel like your at home on a holiday! All of the waitresses/bartender serve you with a smile from start to finish! The home made soups, salads, bread & butter lead you up to a fantastic meal of whatever one orders and then if you have room (I never do) they have great home made desserts. If anyone asks me for a great, not pricey place to dine numero uno goes to Harolds! Check it out and let me know what you think and enjoy like I always do with my family!!

I don't know what it is about the local DD's, but the coffee is terribly inconsistent. I have ordered hazelnut coffee and received almond flavored, unknown flavored , and gotten a "What's that?" response. Seriously not cool. Who the heck owns these franchises & doesn't bother to train the kids how to make proper coffee? Never had a problem in Albany, Troy, Latham or out of state. Amsterdam, Gloversville, Johnstown all suck at making proper coffee. I don't understand it.

Sam's Steak and Seafood

Within walking distance of the Holiday Inn in Johnstown, Sam's seems to be a long-established restaurant. Sam has his staff well trained, but they seem to be having a good time in their job.
The margarita was good, not too strong. I had read the portions were LARGE so I ordered two appetizers and couldn't get through them. My husband had the seafood canneloni and really enjoyed it. And the fresh bread before the meal....so good!
Glad we chose Sams!

Udderly Delicious

Udderly used to be the place to go for ice cream. Not anymore. The girls working there are rude and impatient. The prices have gone up and the portions sizes have got smaller. Ice cream tastes fine but there are other places to go that are more reasonably priced and have just as good if not better ice cream.

Romana's Italian Kitchen

Reviewed By garda19 - Brick, New Jersey

We were staying at the Microtel Inn & Suites down the street and asked the lady at the desk to recommend a good restaurant for dinner. Her recommendation was Romana's Italian Kitchen. This was our first time there and both the food and the service were excellent. I had the chicken Parm and it was so big that I couldn't finish it. Everything from the bread to the dessert was great. We couldn't have asked for a better server. She was right there whenever we needed anything. She was polite, friendly and professional. We were staying in Johnstown for two nights and after our first dinner at Romana's we went back again the second night. I thought the prices were very reasonable. Its too bad that we live 5 hours away because this could have been our go to restaurant. I highly recommend.

Jackie's Diner

We stopped into this place only because it was between two different hotels on our summer vacation. It didn't look like much on the outside, but the food was REALLY GOOD! I had a Buffalo chicken wrap, with bacon and tomatoes and lots of other good stuff. The service was very friendly and the price was very low. I would GLADLY stop in again if visiting the area.

Plaza's Italian Bistro

Reviewed By Barbara B - Lake Pleasant, NY

Stopped in for lunch as it WAS one of our favorite spots. Found many changes. Salad bar was moved out to another room ( the old summer room renovated) and replaced in the main dining room by a full service liquor bar. They no longer have the delicious fresh baked meat filled bread on the salad bar, it is just plain fresh baked bread ( BIG disappointment). In my mind I feel that the liquor bar should have been put in the other room and the salad bar should stay where it was (just my opinion). Also, no one seems to care that there is lettuce and salad ingredients on the floor near the salad bar just waiting for someone to slip in it. Our waitress was very nice but very slow, she never cleared any dirty dishes off our table the whole time we were there...everything was still on the table while we waited forever for her to come back with our credit card. Then when we got home, my friend opened her take home box and it wasn't even what she ordered!!!! She called the Bistro and spoke with the manage/owner. (Not sure if it was the manager or the owner, but whoever he was he was totally rude!!!!). Blamed everything on the hike in the minimum wage in NY and very argumentative. WE LIVE 1 hr away from Gloversville and the owner/manager suggested she bring the meal back for a replacement. When my friend told him where she lived, He told her, sorry you had a bad experience, have a nice day and hung up on her. Needless to say we will NOT be going back anytime soon ( especially with the House of Pizza right down the road with much better food, staff and friendlier). Price was still good for the specials on the menu but the experience was a deal breaker.......you get what you pay for, and that is why Plaza Italian Bistro can afford to lose customers.
