Le Bouchon

Reviewed By Bferry34 - Dundee, United Kingdom

We arrived at 7.35 to be told they did start serving at 8 pm, however were invited to take a seat and were served an apperatif. The menu is quite limited with a special of the day. We were invited to choose flexibly from the menu. We shared a delicious starter and then had a lobster risotto (plate of the day) and gigot of lamb. Both were beautifully conceived, cooked and presented. The Deserts were also excellent. There was a good, reasonably priced wine list. The ambiance and service were excellent. Overall a memorable meal.

Firstly let me colour (not as vivid as the sauces) this review by saying that the restaurant was empty apart from me for the 2 hours I was there which accounts for the atmosphere mark.
Starter was tandoori salmon which was fresh and well cooked, but was bright red and had no real tandoori flavour. The sauce that came with it I swear was fluorescent green.
Main course was lamb and spinach which rescued the night, along with the charm of the lady serving.
Not sure I would rush back...

Le Refuge

When we visit my parents, we often go to Le Refuge with them. It is a great place to eat. The food is very good, and well cooked. The menu card has a wide choice of food if the daily does not suit you. The staff is quick, and friendly. A great choice if you are passing by or for a special occasion. Since it is quite popular, I would recommend to book a table if you want to eat there.

Le Pasturier

Reviewed By railtraveller65 - London, UK

This is a bit classier than most of the restaurants I use, but it had the informal, family-run ambiance that I like. House made cheese pastries came with the aperitif and this was followed by an amuse bouche of fresh peas and creme fraiche puree. The entree was of new potatoes with mange touts, salad and coconut ice, an interesting combination. The pintade was well cooked and presented with roas potatoes and creamed mushroms. After the desert a couple of small madelaines and a nut flavoured spun sugar concoction (sorry I do not know its propper name) were offered before coffee. It was not crowded but all the other customers apeared to be enjoying their food as much as I did. Special mention should be made of the young waitress who had learnt her craft well and had a very pleasant manner.

La Voute

Reviewed By Arrietveld - Haarlem, The Netherlands

Excellent restaurant in the centre of Gap. We had lunch at the cosy terras outside at the back of the restaurant. The menu is a mixture of French and Asian/Latin dishes. It is well balanced and each dish takes the best of the two cuisines, so its not your average fusion. The kids had the buritos with Thai curry rice, which is better than your own local Mexican restaurant (they also have a kids menu). My wife had the filet mignon with honey sauce and herbs and I had the canard 'Thai style'. Both dishes where very nice and perfectly cooked (whereas canard and filet mignon in many restaurants are overcooked). The dishes are bytheway quite large and with good prices (average price of main dish is aroun 16 euros), you get good value for money.

The food is excellent except for the menu with local dishes, too greasy and deep fried. The other daily menu slightly more expensive is fantastic.

Was totally surprised to find an Indian restaurant in Gap, of all places. The service and the ambiance of this little restaurant were very good. The food decent at reasonable prices. Good also the kids menu options.

This restaurant is perfect, for the food, the service and the price/quality level. We were there twice for dinner and tried both meat and fish menus. The quality of the food and of the service is really high and the place is very relaxing. It's really one of the best restaurants I've ever been in my life!

To lazy and tired to leave my hotel, I decided to eat in the hotel restaurant, which I usually never do. Thank God for that, as the local French cuisine provided was such a pleasant surprise. I decided for the medium menu. Before my starter (foie gras, which I can never resist), two other, very tasty pre-starters were provided. I can only say... yummy! With a slight delay, my main course of perfectly cooked, tender filet of (French!) beef, with assorted vegetables and a totally delicous morsel/pepper sauce arrived. I am already in heaven, zipping a great glass of Graves along. Then comes the trolley au fromage. All local cheese; Every one great, but I must point out the goat cheese (chevre) in particular. Just amazing! Sorry to say, I was too full to have dessert, so settled for a nicely brewed espresso in it's place. As for the service, I can only commend the lovely waitress for trying to understand my broken French. Attentive, but not obtrusive. To sum up: Delicious, nicely presented food, cosy atmosphere, gracious service & excellent value for money. Don't pass by, if ever in Gap!
