Starbucks

I've frequented many Starbucks locations and the Forney location is by FAR the slowest one anywhere around. Getting through the drive through in a timely manner is nearly impossible. It's not the number of cars either. The one in Terrell can turn out as many cars in half the time. Not sure what the problem is in Forney. I cannot even count the number of free drinks I've been given at this location as an apology for such a long wait.

Oscar Delta Texas Kitchen

We typically get our bowls to go. I get a veggie bowl, and always ask for extra rice/beans, and potatoes from the back kitchen. Guacamole is included since I'm not getting meat and they charge me the same as a chicken bowl. I load up on the veggies and am always happy when I leave.

My hubby is never as satisfied but he has learned to ask for the same as I do lo to be as happy with his bowl as I am. :D I will warn you though, if the manager is working the line, you will not get extra anything and your bowl will be puny. He doesn't like giving extra anything.

Their food is always good and super delicious, if you don't get any sauce or veggies, it will be bland. You have been warned. They messed up a call in order once and they skipped all the veggies and salsas on my bowl, it was just rice, beans, and potatoes. Blah and boring. Nothing special. No flavor whatsoever, it;'s the magic combination of everything together that makes this place so yummy!

Tips: If you do call in orders, don't make bowls, burritos, or tacos with super specific toppings, it will be wrong. Order off their menu.

Get the grilled avocados at least once if you like avocados. You won't be disappointed.

OMG quesadilla is amazing.

Go for breakfast!!! Its heavenly!

Great donuts! They have a big variety of donuts, kolaches, and drinks. Their prices are very reasonable. Their donuts are so good! We love the buttermilk donut, donut holes and peanut butter & jelly donut! Above all the owner and the people who work for her are so friendly! They make sure you are welcomed and move people through quickly. Don't go too late on the weekend or you won't get what you want!! Sometimes there is a line out the door!

I was looking forward to another great Mexican Food venue in the Dallas area. This time I think we found an all time favorite. We had a table of 7 with my family and I was really impressed with the presentation as well as the quality and flavor of the meal. Just check out the pictures. You can see that usually I don't post too many, but this deserved several.

Food was good but it's not inexpensive. I bought a 4 piece catfish basket and a "bowl" of gumbo for $14 and change. Fish portions could have been a little larger, two hushpuppies and some overcooked French fries weren't worth the wait.

When we arrived, there were several open tables to choose from, so, we got there before the after church crowd. It still took almost 45 minutes to get our orders. During that wait, we were not offered refills on our coffee and hot tea. We finally hailed a waiter and asked for it. The food, once it arrived, was excellent though. Just don't go here if you are in a hurry. I had the waffles and my daughter had the Eggs Benedict.

Mama's Daughter's Diner

Reviewed By HerrMV - Denver, Colorado

This home-style restaurant is one of those seemingly off the beaten path and secret places one may hope to find while traveling. But, judging by its popularity, it’s not all that secret. Two visits within recent months have confirmed this notion. Located in an older, but revamped, downtown section of Forney this charming country kitchen recalls the past days of nostalgia. During peak weekend breakfast and brunch hours, guests pour into this restaurant as fast as the waitresses can pour their hot coffee. On my first visit I thought for sure that there would be a considerable wait time. I was proved wrong as we were seated within a minute. Repeat that for visit number two. It is larger inside than it appears from the exterior.

Fast and very friendly service enhances the home-style cooking of this bustling and busy eatery. Country style décor, chalkboards announcing the day’s specials, quaint writings on the walls, complete the atmosphere. This is not a candlelit, white-tablecloth romantic restaurant. It is, instead, a place to chow down on plenty of hot, generous portioned dishes, drink mugs full of hot coffee and have a great time.

I have only one complaint and I hope someone reads this to them. On both of my visits, both meals had a cut of pork; first time was a pork chop, second time a ham steak. Although they were cooked just fine, I wish they were just a bit thicker and resembled a truer cut of meat rather than a slice of lunch meat. There, I said it. That, however, will not keep me from visiting Mama’s Daughters again in the future. So do what I have done. Order some exceptional biscuits and gravy and fill your belly. Enjoy yourself. Then make room for the next hungry bunch of country-cookin’ loving cowboys and cowgirls.
