Where to Eat in Fairbanks: The Best Restaurants and Bars

April 14, 2018 Veronika Gaddis

Its far north location means Fairbanks gets the midnight sun in the summer and the northern lights during Aurora Season (August to April). These wonders define the city, along with winter activities, the gold rush past, Alaska Native heritage, a vibrant arts scene and “golden heart” hospitality. Enjoy dog mushing, panning for gold, floating the Chena River or visiting a museum. Add a nearby trip to a hot springs, Denali, the Arctic or the Interior. Fairbanks is the gateway to discovering Alaska.

We lived in Bangkok as kids so every family gathering we find a Thai restaurant to dine and bond. This is a busy hot spot in Fairbanks. Great menu. We had the MIENG COME & Fresh roles, Tom Yum soup, Panang (chicken) and PRA RAM (beef). I did spicy but not Thai spicy. It was perfectly done. It is in a not so obvious strip mall but worth the wander to find.

Authentic Mediterranean and European cuisine. And Bar

Reviewed By bnball - Sterling Heights,MI

After reading the many reviews my expectations were high. Maybe its just my home area and the many Mediterranean restaurant options I have been too. Nothing we had was anything more than average. Pomfrits were okay, my wifes Mediterranean salad was fair, my father-in-laws burger was dry but decent,my shwarma was nothing special, and the service seemed disinterested in us all together. Barely answered when I asked what was playing on the tv which was images of Bulgaria he said. When I said they were beautiful didn't answer me at all only walked away. I wasn't even offended by that. So if you are new to this cuisine try it just don't go looking for something special.

This location was used as a water pumping station originally, but now has been changed into a quality restaurant and bar.
The place is warm and welcoming with friendly staff and efficient service. They have a good range of steaks and seafood to choose from as well as other foods.
Prices are reasonable and looking around the walls there is lots of memorabilia to view.
I would recommend this establishment for dining.

The four of us had dinner here twice during our stay in Fairbanks. It was so good the first time we went back. The first time my husband and I had wood fired salmon, garlic mashed potatoes and veggie medley. Another person had filet and the other beef stroganoff, each dish was well prepared and great flavor. They also had live music which was a lot of fun. Our server was great, fantastic personality, gave great service and was another reason for us returning. On our return visit my husband and I ordered Halibut which was excellent, the other two ordered crab cake and pork tenderloin also nicely prepared. We shared baked bruschetta which was outstanding. Highly recommend Chena's Alaskan Grill

Wolf Run Restaurant

This restaurant came highly recommended and we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, it wasnt nearly what we had hoped for.

The tawook kabob and spaghetti was good, but the drink options were limited if one is not a beer or wine drinker. The desert menu featured many of the best options! It seemed odd that we needed to make the decision of having salt and pepper at our table before we even received our food.

The dining area was small, nearly empty, yet our beverages went unfilled for too long, especially when another server refilled water at a table not 2 feet from ours.

Overall, I felt the venue was only so-so all the way around based on the service, menu optiona, and difficulty of locating if you are not local. We were not overly impressed for the fine dining establishment and prices.
