Boulevard Cafe

FACT: Boulevard doesn't know what is parmesan cheese. On 3 separate times, someone in our party had ordered pasta and requested parmesan cheese, BTW not one server ever offered parmesan cheese. And each time, without fail, the server would bring a bowl of shredded mozzarella. What is this?

Unfortunately this was our 3rd and last time dining here. The first time we came here in November 2017 for my father's birthday dinner was fine. The salmon orzo and bacon wedge salad is great but after 2 disappointing dinners, we will not be dining at Boulevard cafe anymore.

FACT: If you order off the Early Bird Dinner special, it claims to come with coffee or tea, etc. On 3 different visits, it was never offered. You have to remind the servers of what you're supposed to receive.

Highlight: There is one gentleman, a busser in his 50's with maybe an Italian, European or Latin accent. Now this guy is great! He came around every time to see if we were okay, to change dirty plates. Put this guy in management! He knows what he's doing!

While they do have great traditional sandwiches and a super impressive display of sides the real fun of this place is taking the chance on some of their signature sandwiches. They don't rush it so the food is always delicious and made perfectly every Time!

Koi Palace

We have been going here for about 15 years, 30+ times per year, on weekend mornings. There are many good dishes that have gone unchanged (Siu Mai, xiao long bau (despite being made remotely now),Har Gow, nye wong bau, Soy Noodles, hai Kim, char Siu rice roll, coffee ribs) but many favorites that have slipped. Fung zhao used to have a nice mandarin orange zest to balance the fattiness or the dish, but no more (and is often overcooked/undercooked).The sai yong donuts used to be large and airy but to make order more affordable have reduced size; now they’re smaller and denser so never order anymore. They used to have steamed coconut 1000 layer cake but no more. Dry-fried custard pancake used to be awesome but stopped offering that, too. KP is still the best around—we go around the bay regularly to other dim sum places and think this is still the best. But the bar has been lowered and we are a bit sad. Please note I have not mentioned price at all—dim sum has always been spendy but KP management decisions regarding menu seem arbitrary as if customers are skint. The good news is that new dishes are proposed regularly, now on a receipt you get when sitting down—much better than constantly chasing a new dish being delivered elsewhere just to find out what it is. Try the bo-lay tea—helps digestion and cuts the fat better than jasmine.

Typical weekend crowds to be expected and tonight was no different. Drive thru line was out the parking lot and around the corner so just park in the lot and walk in. Although line is long, staff is amazingly efficient and service is quick and your wait is short!

The Oops was for not remembering to snap a photo of our 4 orders of the Double Double Burger until we finished!!

Head straight for the Sushi station, considering what sushi costs in San Francisco, this is a really good value. The variety of the different rolls is quite inventive and tasty. No sashimi but I can live with that. Next head for the BBQ pork and duck, very meaty and tasty. The seafood was a little disappointing, the shrimp seems small and the crab was not very "meaty". The dim sum is all very good too. Actuallyt not much to not like. Best time is around 1:15p on a weekday, best price and less competition for the food. Loved the mango mouse, but the green tea mouse was a little astringent

Anchor Oyster Bar & Seafood Market

Reviewed By mstimc - Calif.

This is a small diner-type place; very unassuming with a friendly wait staff. The menu is limited, which is probably a good thing meant to ensure the food is fresh and prepared with care. Besides the regular menu, there are a few specials posted on a board. I had the dinner portion of the scallops and my wife had the prawns. The plate is typical "modern"; the main course with a few veggies. We ordered dinner salads to fill out the meal and the total came to close to 80 bucks. The food was good but not stunning and you sure aren't paying for atmosphere. The next night we ate at one of the better Italian places and paid the same for full meals with wine. Anchor was good but the skimp portions for the price will keep me from coming back.
