Wolf Mountain Vineyards & Winery Restaurant

We have eaten here several times for lunch, however Sunday was the first time we got to come for Brunch. The food is always fine, not tremendous, but perfectly fine. It is just too convenient to be able to eat, drink & view in the same place to not eat here sometimes! There is a hike and the parking is very scattered, however the view makes it worth it. I have always thought the wines were overpriced and are fine, but like the food, not outstanding. Wolf has it in the view & having everything in one place, particularly if you want to kind of feel like you are in CO, etc. I love the lodge feel of the place and the deck upstairs is awesome. The brunch is seasonal and I enjoyed the offerings with the Gazpacho being fabulously flavorful & with a little texture still to the veggies - truly delicious. I also loved the Red Beans and Rice with the Shrimp: very, very flavorful too. To us, the collards needed some acid/vinegar, the Monte Cristo's were ok, however the waffles underneath were totally soggy. I would have toasted English muffins and used that as a base as it would have stayed firmer longer. I think they cut the cheese cubes WAY too small (I understand they do this for waste prevention) however you never get a decent mouthful of flavor. Also, they cut the bread into small cubes also and I just don't think this works well at all. The breads served on the buffet were not great - kind of dry and flavorless. I am not an eater of ham though it looked good. Overall, again, great view, nice to have an upscale-type place in the mountains besides LeVigne. And to the Napa Valley reviewer, of course you can not compare this food to NV...It all depends on what and where you are used to eating...This is a good effort and worth a try.

We were part of a food tour and made our way over to Shenanigans Irish Pub. Here was a place that offers traditional Irish dishes, pub fare, seafood, vegetarian and kids' options. The pub is located in the basement of the historic Strickland house, with walls covered with customer-autographed dollar bills; you will feel as though you're in Ireland. We were seated in an area upstairs where we were served ‘Bangers and mash’. This dish gets its name because sausages used to burst while cooking; mash meanwhile, refers to the mashed potatoes. We enjoyed the meal and would like to return to enjoy the live music that we could hear from downstairs. This gets an ‘A’ from us.

Nothing special in terms of ice cream (Mayfield's brand) but they do give you a large scoop. Price is as large as the scoop (you can almost by a half gallon from any grocery store for what they charge but hey when you need a cone there's not much competition in the nearby area). Long lines. Has a few tables inside and a counter.

We were a part of a food tour when we visited The Picnic Cafe and Dessertery. Our guide told us it has been around since 2001and has always been a mom and pop restaurant that goes out of their way to make customers feel at home. I could see that with the way the place was decorated and laid out. A real homey feel! Our guide also said that it had won multiple awards from best lunch to best dessert. I could not agree with that because we were served a very tasteless chocolate cake that was a bit dry. Maybe it was because of the humidity and we caught them on a bad day. Overall I will have to give this place a ‘C’.
