An old time standby. If you crave good, consistent, reasonably priced home style Italian food, this is the place. This isn't fancy gourmet food like Cafe C, but is much better than the big chains like B____'s or C_____'s. Comfort food that is very satisfying and belly filling. They make a yummy sauce. The staff are friendly and attentive.

Smith's Restaurant

Reviewed By Lori12309 - Niskayuna, New York

I got a great Groupon deal for Smith’s, so my husband and I ventured over for lunch today at one o’clock. We had never been, but I had read TA reviews before purchasing the Groupon so there were no surprises. Parking on an early Sunday afternoon was NOT a problem, nor was getting immediate seating. Upon walking in, we were ignored by the fellow tending a virtually empty bar, but we strolled through his territory to the dining room proper.
We were the only souls in the restaurant except for Megan, who was doing sidework when we walked in. She invited us to choose our table and we sat ourselves at a fourtop near the fireplace. She turned on the fire for us, took a drink order, offered menus and left us blessedly alone, but kept a sharp eye on use while we sipped and dithered.
My husband started with an outstanding bowl of chicken/carrot/ginger soup and I ordered the ambitiously priced basket of onion straws which I graciously shared. They may have been expensive at $9 but OMG, they were worth every penny. He had a glass of Stella Artois and I drank ale from Druthers. He then tucked into an excellent Reuben and I a pot roast sandwich, recommended by Megan. Both were accompanied by French fries (which would have been world class had they been double-fried).
The ambiance is just lovely and Megan provided friendly, professional service. Our Groupon had a $30 value and the balance was $19. Lunch at Smith’s was an experience we hope to repeat soon—and maybe next time we’ll merit a “Hi” from the bartender.

Went for dinner recently and have to say - a little disappointed. I am a big fan of the pub food here - wings, soups etc are awesome. But - the filet and seafood dinner entree was so disappointing. Filet was grizzly and needed a knife badly. Seafood was a little bit of a throwaway on the dish. Potatoes had the most flavor. Other dinners at the table were on the same par. And sadly - too loud in the room to talk and be heard. This was a pricey meal that didn't deliver. Sticking to pub fare in the future and will return!

Hands down the best Italian Pastries in the Capital District! Their yeast type donuts are to die for, biscotti are the best you can get locally, other cookies and Pastries are very good. But they also excel in Sandwiches - inheriting one of the local recipes for "Neba" style hot roast beef that recalls a bygone era - but other sandwiches are excellent as well, stuffed with best meats and fresh ingredients, served on the best rolls anywhere. Still family run!

I have been to the Pig Pit BBQ twice in the past month. Outstanding Texas BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich was huge at a great price. The second time my family stopped we got a full rack of ribs which was enough for three people. I recommend whenever you are in the Cohoes area you give it a try.

First time here; wonderful meal, service & ambiance. Decorated for the holidays with fireplace glowing, pointsettia, garland & tiny white lights. One had onion soup, steak frites with chimichurri sauce. One had endive salad, swordfish special. All tasty, including the warm rolls. Split the brownie/ice-cream dessert. Definitely return.

High energy, casual fine dining in downtown Troy, featuring shareable plates of American food with global influences.

Had a gift certificate from last Christmas to be used at any Clark Hospitality venue. Had used all but $51 of it at Donna's Itaiian Restaurant which was in my neighborhood and to which we could walk, but to our disappointment it closed in the summer. So it was with trepidation that we went to Peck's but so glad we finally did. No doubt it is expensive for Troy ($5 for half loaf of bread, $14 for half roasted cauliflower head), but the food is interesting with varied sauces and jams and the service is outstanding! The music was terrific dance music and we would have loved to have been able to get up and do some East Coast Swing and even West Coast, but it was definitely TOO LOUD for dining! (Vic Christopher, the owner, spent the entire time we were there at two turntables and his Apple Computer choosing the music and we wondered why he didn't notice how loud it was!) The service was top-notch!

Our son and his wife live in Brooklyn and this reminds us of the many venues he has taken us to there with the brick walls and exposed beams. It has a very youthful vibe and that was evident from the mostly thirty something folks dining on this particular Friday night.

No doubt we used up the rest of the gift certificate and then some, but next time the "kids" are in town, Peck's will be visited!

This little cafe, located in a free standing building in a mixed commercial residential area, has tables (i.e., not booths). While they didn't have anything unusual on their breakfast menu, the food was well prepared. The inside of my omelet was moist, & I liked that, if you wanted, you had a choice of shredded hash browns, something we don't find often in the North, instead of home fries. I thought I was seeing double when looking at the two waitresses but found out later that they are twins sisters & owners of the cafe along with one's husband. You can tell what type of place this is as my waitress, who was friendly, called me honey & sweetie. Heads up that breakfast is served only until 11 am from Tues. to Fri., although it's available until closing on Sat. & Sun. I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here but expect I'd come often if I lived in Cohoes...
