Casa Peon

I just spend 3 nights in lovely Celestun, and there is no better place to stay overnight then Casa Peon :-) Comfortable bed, spacious room, lovely breakfast...They made me some really good veggie meals (not on the menu, but you can ask them). Great place to hang out as well, with the bar, Terrace in- and outside...beautifull wall paintings make the place look welcoming. I especially enjoyed drinking my coffee sitting on the little Terrace on the street, in the morning sun :-)

Restaurante Los Pampanos

When you find something good, you stick with it. First day there I tried the shrimp in garlic...delicious. It came with beautifully cooked veggies and rice. Second day I went with just grilled shrimp. Frankly, if it had the melted butter it might have tasted like lobster tail. Again, delicious. I could not decide which I like more. My husband loved the sopa de mariscos. But both of us fell in love with the "Pay de limon".
This restaurant is right on the beach so you can either eat your lunch/dinner on the beach with your feet in the sand or in the palapa covered upper area out of the breeze. We were in both areas and all was just perfect every time.
Service was good and it was all very relaxing and satisfying.
P.S. It opens at 11 am.

La Palapa

We were à table of 8, 3 of us ordered lobsters (langoustina) it came too much cook look like caoutchouc no one of us were able to eat it ! When you see the lobster and the shell it look like the lobster can not fit in. I'm sure she'll where there for decoration and they use frozen lobsters
Our waiter saw that we didn't touch it and the only think he can do for us was giving us a small discount which was almost nothing compare to the price of the lobster. So if you go in this restaurant a good advise should be not ordering lobster but the best one I can give you is not going there because the rest of the food was not very good too

El Lobos was a great place to eat breakfast. Actually the best breakfast I had in Mexico. The portions were very large, coffee terrific, and WI-FI !! Located on the south west corner of the main square in Celestun. Great Value and quaint typical Mexican restaurant.

La Playita

On the beach, this place has lost a bit the kind of edge it had some years ago.
But still it is a great place for a lunch after the Falmingo tour.
Beach is amazing, service very good and the shrimps à la diabla were fantastic.
Good option for families, kids being able to play on the beach while food is being prepared.

For a good price ( believe 120 pesos) you can get a complete breakfast which includes: coffee or tea, juice, scrambled eggs, ham or bacon, seasonal fruit with yogurt and granola, homemade bread and homemade jam. There are other options as well. It’s right on the beach. They are only open until 1 pm.

El Palmar

Reviewed By Southside - Oakland, CA

My wife and I just had a nice couple of big, tasty burritos at El Palmar - one "specialty of the house" (pork), the other chicken. Friendly host, good service, solid food, comfortable though certainly not fancy ambiance - then again, you're not going to find fancy or refined ambiance in down-to-earth Celestun. Total cost, including a couple of beers, came to about US $13.
Restaurant is located on the central square, on the left side if you're facing the sea. Tables outside if you want to people-watch a bit. More inside, if you prefer a quieter setting. I believe it's just open in the evening, starting at 7 pm (?).

restaurante Avila

We came here for lunch after the flamingo boat tour. It's a nice place on the beach. Good was good. I had the grilled fish which was very fresh. Prices are cheap.
I think they tried to sneakin the tip as tax which was a little annoying. Even with that the price was reasonable.

La Boya

This is the first restaurant we went to on our stay. We both ordered some beers and were relaxing and enjoying the excellent ocean view. Some locals came up to us and told us la tortuga...la tortuga (turtle...turtle) We ran up the beach and got to sea a sea turtle lay her eggs. This was amazing! So we returned and my husband order the stone crab cold. It was very fresh stone crab claws and so delicious! I had some past and shrimp. It was very good. We really enjoyed this place and returned several more time on our stay for lunch and dinner.

Restaurante Celestun

Reviewed By Greg T - Canada

Hunger set in and we decided to lunch at the Restaurant Celestun. The fish I was wary about ordering until the waiter brought out 2 fish on a plate for me to choose from. The flesh was firm, and the eyes where crystal clear an indication of how fresh it was. My choise was a good one the fish was excellent and more so with a little extra garlic sauce.
