We had a wonderful meal at La Gondole. We were seated pretty quickly and ordered great wine at the suggestion of our waiter. All of the food was excellent but especially the Chef's Seafood Platter, served on a cast iron skillet. The Chef came out to greet us and tell us his story (He's Swiss). I'd recommend this place to anybody looking for a great meal in a cozy atmosphere in Cabo Frio.

This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at our hotel, and was suggested as a local favourite. The staff did not speak any conversational English, and that is probably a good thing.
The location is next to the water, and if you are there during the day and are able to get a table on the balcony you should do so. Our dishes were both seafood. The food was very good, although perhaps the seafood was slightly overdone. The service was courteous and efforts were made to accommodate our broken Portuguese.
The costs were slightly higher than some of the other locals, but I would still recommend this restaurant.

I was out with a new friend from Cabo Frio and we happened upon this restaurant. Quite a find !! I had seen it in TripAdvisor so wanted to at least look at menu....from there we entered and spent the evening. Brasilian dishes very reasonably priced with ample portions and vey tasty. Service was excellent for Brasil....I'm always impressed by attentiveness at some restaurants but it's "hit and miss"....here it was a "hit"....Decor and ambiance were cozy and inviting....we had a back terraza almost to ourselves. Nice and reasonable wine selections. Highly recommend Galapagos!!

It was a pleasant surprise to discover this well appointed restaurant in a working class neighborhood of Cabo Frio , Sao Cristovao. We didn´t really discover it, to tell the truth, but were invited by local friends who shared this well kept secret. It is clean, cheerful and well decorated, with an open grill towards the back. It was hard to find an empty table. Our friends recommended we order Filet recheado com Brie, or Sirloin Stuffed with Brie Cheese, and Fetuccine a la Crema com Camarao, or Fettuccine with Cream and Shrimp sauce. The good sized portions had a delicate blend of flavors and we enthusiastically shared samples. We ordered a Chilean wine from a choice of products from several countries since, in our extremely biased opinion, Chilean wine is always a good pick! Service , by our similing waiter Carlos, was fast and courteous, both in Spanish and Portuguese. The total tab, with wine and soft drinks, was around 200R for four people. Not cheap but definitely worth it.

I arrived a few minures before my colleagues and received a warm and educated welcome from sommerlier and head waiter Renato. He explained the menus and showed me the three menus (wines, pastas and pizzas). We ordered three different small (broto) pizzas and gthe offered my non-Portugues speaking colleague and English version menu. The options were thin or thick crust pizzas and all of us went with the thin crust versions. They were excellent and were washed down by very cold Budweiser and Stella Artois beers. The only problem (which was not the restaurant's problem) was the idiot in the building next door that was hammering down a brick wall at 20:00!
I recommend this restaurant. The prices are very reasonable.

loved this restaurant. we stopped here only because it was the busiest of the all lot of restaurants in the same road. we got bahia's cooked prawns and we loved it. portions were big. we later realized that thehouse specialty is steak (or picanha how they call it), as we saw almost everyone ordering it. From the look and the smell, it looked so good. reason why we will have to go back here again at our next available opportunity.

Galeto do Ze on the Boulevard Canal in Cabo Frio is a simple no-frills restaurant where good honest local food is served with a smile. It also has a great view of the harbour and passing scene.
Sit outside for the best view.
Try the Galeto a moda do Ze with an extra portion of beans along with a glass or two of cold chop (draught beer) and soak up the friendly local atmosphere.
