Ramen Takara

RAMEN TAKARA is not your typical Japanese restaurant, instead of featuring tempura or sushi, we put our heart and effort into our ramen and rice dishes. We even make our own noodles everyday using the finest flour, mineral water and fresh eggs. Whether you are picking up a meal on the go, having a family dinner, or enjoying a drink with your friends, this is the right place to enjoy the refreshing and plesant dining experience. Bookings are not essential but we recommended that you make a booking in advance to avoid disappointment, especially on weekends!

If you are after authentic tasting ramen then you must go to Ramen Takara but make sure you get there early or book a table for big group because the place is always packed! Tan-tan ramen is the one of the best tasting ramen in their menu that I’ve tried. Two top side dishes worth trying: Agedashi tofu and pork gyoza side dishes are worth trying too.

Yes, people here actually talk to each other. The beer was good and there is a comfortable smoking zone. They have some great live acts too. Real musicians, not computerized crap. Have not eaten there, as there are some nice take away places nearby, but the food looked good to me.

We visited Gaku and loved it! The food was tasty and fresh and filled my husband up which is good as sometimes Japanese restaurants can leave him hungry! Good price to doesn't break the bank to dine here. More exciting with a group of your mates though. Highly recommend and cheaper than dikoku!

I've travelled from Australia to be part of this lunch and how brilliant it was.
The staff are fantastic, the selection of beers is brilliant and the good is exceptional for such a low key venue. Scotch fillet was sensational and perfectly cooked, with chefs accommodating special request for "Carpet Bag" style.
Thoroughly impressed with everything about this place and can't wait to enjoy some more fabulous hospitality before flying back to Aussie.
Cheers crew. Great stuff indeed

Delicious Yum Char, not the best in Auckland but we love this delicious yum char on our Sunday lunch. Guests need book in advance on the lunch week end rush hours. We enjoyed our pork on Sichuan Spice, prawn shumai, pork bun, and green vegie with sweet sauce. Parking on the rush hours could be a problem. Prices were OK, mid-range.

Java Jungle Cafe

Java Jungle is very busy and also very popular, as we experienced on a Sunday morning.
There is a large range of choices on the menu for breakfast and lunch.
Our party had a great breakfast which ranged from eggs benedict on ciabatta, omelette, big breakfast and mince on ciabatta. Portions are generous and the creamed mushrooms are a nice touch.
Everyone was really happy with their meal and service was quick and efficient.
Prices are reasonable as well.

Busy when we arrived, and our pakora starter arrived fairly quickly( delicious). The main course took a long time, had we not already had our entree we probably would have left. I think they might have forgotten. However when it arrived it was very good.
We would go back again, to give them a second chance to bring the food a bit quicker.

Cozy restaurant great for family or friends gatherings. Good food, small restaurant but catered to a reasonably good sized group of us. Plenty of variety on the menu and the food is delicious and good sizes. Also if you're brave (and not driving perhaps) try the free shots of traditional spirits they give you at the beginning of the meal for a bit of fun to start the evening.
