Found this on TA and despite some negative reviews we went for supper. Sure glad we did. The supreme pizza was excellent with a great thin crust, good sauce and yummy toppings. Our server was Missy and she was so helpful with great suggestions, keeping our drinks refilled and overall great service. We cannot wait to get back to the area so we can dine here again.

We stopped in because the boat driver at Stout's Island Lodge recommended their cheese curds. Maybe it was because it was our first time in Wisconsin, but I have never seen cheese curds that big- and they were the best balls of fried cheese I have ever had. This place is exactly where you would want to go if you are not from Wisconsin and wanted to get a local feel. The staff and patrons were really friendly, the food was good, and the beer was cold. And there were bears.

The birchwood cafe and diner has been in operation for over 50 years. There have been a few makeovers but many of the faces remain the same over the years. We credit a lot of our success to our dedicated staff. A hometown diner specializing in breakfast. We are known for our "almost" world famous hash-browns. We also serve lunch. We have seating available on our deck. We offer adult beverage options including beer, wine and mimosas, wi-fi and because the cafe is connected to the laundromat you can wash clothes and eat all at the same time....everyday is wash day at the cafe! The cafe staff and owners realize that you have a choice where you spend your dining dollars and we would like to thank you in advance for giving us the opportunity to serve you. We are a family friendly environment where strangers, friends, families and employees meet and choose to share a part of their day. "it's what's cooking in birchwood" texas mike and apron betsey
We took our grandson here to fill him up. He had the loaded hash browns. All our food was delicious, and waitress worked so hard to provide great service. The place was packed and large groups kept coming in so we sat at counter.
Don't miss this place if you come by Birchwood Wisconsin

At The Hungry Minnow, we strive to serve a wide variety of high quality soups, salads, sandwiches and paninis. We have a casual atmosphere where you can sit back and relax. After your meal you can enjoy a tasty ice cream treat, espresso drink and browse the gift shop.
My husband and I stopped in to The Hungry Minnow on a Saturday evening for supper. We ended up being the only people there, which was nice and quiet. We ordered a couple chocolate milks, a chicken wrap, soup, and a cheese burger. The food was delicious! However, our server was very unprofessional, and I had to go to the counter twice to ask for my food. First for my chocolate milk, and again because she forgot my soup. I didn't think it was a hard order, especially since we were the only ones there. But again, the food was fantastic once we got it.

We got there about 7 pm on a Saturday night and they were out of brisket...so I got the pastrami sandwich instead. It was delicious! The pastrami was piled high and they offered a horseradish mustard, which I recommend! My husband got the ribs and he loved them. While you wait for your food, they have a nice high top counter with chairs and it's inside a gas station/gift shop where there's lots of Birchwood souvenirs; i.e. Sweatshirts, t-shirts, cabin decor, games...
We will definitely be back!

Met friends there on Friday night. Apps were very good. Nice selection of beers and a full bar. Ordered the fish broiled and was very happy with it. The bar was full and quite noisy. Dining room was a lot quieter.
