L'Angolo dello Sfizio

Pros: The server was extremely smile-y and the service was prompt and good. The pizzas and calzones were delicious. I suspect they were baked in a brick oven because of the nice char here and there on the crust. The tomatoes in my pasta were completely fresh and delicious--I suspect fresh off the vine! I usually hate what I call "restaurant tomatoes" but these were clearly fresh.
Cons: The pasta itself was a bit too al dente. I'm not sure if that is a sign of using dry pasta and not cooking it enough, or if they do handmade pasta, but it's simply tough. I'm not sure. Still, not enough to discredit the establsihment.
We were happy with it overall. And the price didn't break the bank. Very reasonable.

We loved everything about this place from the well-put interior design to the quality food. The mixed starters were quite unusual for us but we enjoyed every single dish. The homemade "Pici" with black pork ragù were extremely good, and the beef muscle cooked with wine basically disappeared seconds after it touched the table! The desserts were outstanding too. A bit pricy as it's in a small town but still. Overall nice location, ok service and 10/10 food!

We did not visit the monastery to dine, but surprisingly we found they offered food.We had a light lunch, enjoying fresh ingredients on our salads. For dessert we tried the pecorino sheep’s cheese, learned why Italians rave about it. Located inside the 14th century tower, the small restaurant is a most scenic place to dine. Two Italian thumbs up for this remote eatery.

We had a really excellent meal here. The quality of the meat is very good; they are cooked on hot coals before a roaring fire. The side of potatoes is crisp and beautifully caramelized. The spinach side could have been picked an hour before it was so fresh. We were also stunned by the quality of the ricotta in the mousse dessert. Excellent local wine choices. Charming and kind service. All in all worth travelling to Asciano to visit this restaurant. Go!

We ate here five or six times during our stay at Laticastelli. The food was outstanding. We dine in London quite regularly, and the food here more than matched top class London restaurants, at a fraction of the cost. Make the most of it if you are nearby. We loved the squid starter, but also sampled the steak and pork fillet, both of which were exceptional. The Deserts are superb too. Service is excellent. Very classy. And the wine list was extensive. We could not review the restaurant without mentioning the view. Absolutely stunning. I could have sat there all day.

Ischieto

Reviewed By JimSanDieg0 - San Diego, California

This was one of the best meals we've had in Tuscany (multiple trips) and undoubtedly the best value. Known to English speakers as 'the farmhouse', Ischieto is a classy farm to table restaurant with terrific food and great service. The owner was present when we visited and provided personal service as well.
Upon ordering, we received a flatbread amuse-bouche, warm and delicious. The antipasta and salads were fresh and light. Our pasta course was outstanding, a truffle ravioli that I am craving as I write this. My wife and I asked to split an order and when the server told us it came with 5 ravioli, I asked to give 3 to my wife and 2 to me. She returned and said we could have 3 each for an extra 2 Euro....so worth it! For seconds, we ordered two beef dishes and the lamb, all of which were prepared perfectly. To give you a sense of value, these outstanding entrees, with 2 sides included, were 14 to 19 Euro.
The wine list was priced incredibly well. We ordered a bottle of Tignanello, one of the best super Tuscans, for 55 Euro. The next night I saw it in Rome at a restaurant for 180 Euro and the best price I can find in the US for the same vintage is $89. The desserts were as good as the entrees, tiramisu and a chocolate mousse. We ordered digestivos, healthy pours for 3 Euro each. The owner saw how much we were enjoying the evening and brought us a complimentary second digestive.
In summary, 5 scrumptious courses, top notch wine and after two dinner drinks each for 56 Euro for a person. If we'd have known how good it was, especially for the price, we would have eaten there on consecutive nights!

We revisited after a gap of 10 years and found the same good quality that we were expecting. It is better quality than most basic Italian restaurants and there is a large garden area to eat in. Wine selection is good with good choice of wine by the glass.

Actually, for us, it wasn't a long drive. We were staying a few kilometers away at an agriturismo. But, if one was staying in the big city, this would be worth the drive.
Creative dishes of local flavour at a reasonable price. Daily specials give an ever changing menu. Too bad we only had one night to eat here, I think I could have put on a few pounds trying everything. A really beautiful veranda for summer dining. Come hungry. Leave with a smile and a full stomach.

Again taken by friends we ate outside under the veranda looking onto the medieval small piazza and the whole valley. Friendly staff, marvellous food, good local wine. due to the heat (37 C) we had only grilled vegetables and cheeses but with local olive oil and honey and walnuts the food was fit for a king.

We hoped for an honest, authentic, tastefull italian restaurant and we got even more...
Great antipasti and Great pasta's, the best we've eaten in our two week vacation in Italy (and we went to siena, firenze, rapolano, pechiera de garda...) especially the one with cherry tomatoes and jullienne vegetables.
If you want to taste Italy, pay them a visit...
Very friendly service
