Aosta (Italian: [aˈɔsta] ( listen); French: Aoste [ɔst]; Arpitan: Aoûta; Latin: Augústa Prætṓrĭa Salassṓrum) is the principal city of Aosta Valley, a bilingual region in the Italian Alps, 110 km (68 mi) north-northwest of Turin. It is situated near the Italian entrance of the Mont Blanc Tunnel, at the confluence of the Buthier and the Dora Baltea, and at the junction of the Great and Little St. Bernard routes. Aosta is not the capital of the province, because Aosta Valley is the only Italian region not divided into provinces. Provincial administrative functions are instead shared by the region and the communes.

This is a quiet, elegant and charming restaurant in central Aosta. What's even more important, the cuisine is very good!
A starter of bollito misto had very clean flavours, several pieces of meat bound together by veal fat, and garnished with a fine green sauce. Similar clear, linear flavours in a very 'Mediterranean' starter of a large tomato filled with aubergine pate'.
A main of ceps with potatoes cooked 'in cartoccio' was good. Even better was a rabbit stuffed with Arnad lardo and chestnuts: again this was a very controlled, clean yet flavoursome dish with no excesses.
Desserts were good but I wouldn't say they were as spectacular as promised by the ingredients (pistachio, chocolate and rum; and caramelised peach filled with amaretto).
Service by Katia is charme and elegance personified. The prices are correct for this level of cuisine.
All in all, a very good experience, to be repeated.

La Chaumiere is a great restuarant, with imaginative real home cooking. From the risotto to the... Zabaglione. Home mad Zabaglione is rare. And real good home made Zabaglione even more so. This was the best Zabaglione I ever had. Lukewarm, smooth, light, fluffy, and with lovely chocolate in it...

Excellent dinner Da Nando with friends. Good choice of wines and a menu which combines the traditional aostan dishes just reinvented.
We had a mousse of Arnad’s lard that was delicious. Also ravioli made with Valpellinzee soup Ingredients that were spectacular.
A good all round place downtown Aosta (you can park nearby but need to walk few hundreds meters) in the pedestrian area.
Excellent choice of cheeses and Genepy (typical liquor from the valley).
With one bottle of good wine we paid 200€ in 4 people, with an appetizer, main course and dessert/cheese.

I went more than once at the Mama Fusion Japanese Restaurant, and each and every time had been a marvelous experience. The restaurant derived from the owner’s family manor house, with a well-groomed garden on the outside and spaced tables positioned in 3 different living room with dark wood matchboard on walls. An outstanding service brings to customers the Mama’s highlight: sushi! The chef traveled several years around the world absorbing different styles while forging his own. Prices are absolutely fair.
I suggest this restaurant as I consider it one of the best sushi restaurant of northern Italy.

Great ambiance, service, an outstanding menu to celebrate with your loved one. Starters: strudel maison, vegetable flan with melted cheese, mushroom puff pastry; first course: heart-shaped ravioli with cèpes, penne with roe dear and chestnut sauce; main courses:pork fillet with pink pepper cream sauce and various side dishes; dessert: vanilla ice cream with wild fruits in syrup; espresso with a Valentine chocolate, wine and water. All inclusive: 23 EU. What a super celebration.

This is the best place for a leisurely lunch or a pre-dinner appetizer and drinks. We have been twice (different years) and if you want to sample local meats, cheeses, and wines, this is the place.
A wonderful selection of wines to bring home or enjoy on a picnic. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

We had an excellent and very affordable dinner at La Reina. The service was very good too.
There is no menu, so you will have to eat what is on offer (although you can make your preferences known).
We had anti-pasti that consisted of many different kinds of meat followed by very nice filled eggs, a first course of a pasta filled with cheese and meat, a second course of tagliatella with meat, local cheeses and finally a very nice dessert.
Including wine and water for a very decent cost of only 25 euro.

The relaxed environment (neither too formal nor too casual), the chef's good judgement and ability to keep within his comfort zone, the use of really good ingredients, all combined to provide an excellent lunch at this restaurant in central Aosta.
The cuisine is traditional enough to be sound, but also with sufficient personal touches and stunning ingredients to avoid banality. So the hazelnuts in the low temperature cooked duck defnitely catch your attention, and so do the supersweet confit tomatoes in the gnocchi with broad beans, cacio (cheese) and pepper (pity only three of them!), and so do the caramelised onions in a slow-cooked veal of restrained but superlative flavour. And so does the light pungency of citrus in a pasta with pistachios.
Desserts are simple but they did not fail to delight and surprise us! For example we thought there was liquorice in a tiramisu, but no, it was a different thing...
The chef's wife brings cheerfulness and creates a relaxed atmosphere in the formally laid room. The chef is as extroverted as his wife and does not disdain appearing in the front of house and talking to customers. Wine prices have surprisingly low mark-ups at the upper end (e.g. Barolo), maybe a little heavier on the (excellent) local wines. Food prices are altogether very reasonable given the quality (and the quantity is more than adequate too).
This a place where flavours are clear but balanced and controlled rather than 'in your face'. Personally, I really appreciated the restraint in seasoning. I'll definitely be back.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this vegetarian restaurant up a side street whilst visiting Aosta, as you don't often find many vegetarian restaurants around Italy that don't serve pizza!!
Some dishes were quite creative especially the non pasta lasagna, and most things were delicious. We ordered one dish which turned out to be hand-cut fried potato crisps, and although nice (as nice as crisps can be) were very expensive for what they were.
The staff were nice and they had an English menu, and it was a fairly small but clean and cosy place. Worth seeking out if you want a change from meat, pizza and pasta!

Imagine a large round of Vacherin Mont d'Or (raw milk cheese) sitting in a wooden case and heated in the oven to melting, served with mountain grown potatoes, a variety of cold cut prosciutto, salami, capocollo and pickled onions and gherkins. Now imagine a thick hamburger size bun with the top cut off and the bottom side hollowed out to hold an entire rondelle of squishy melted brie, and served with a side bowl of boiled mountain potatoes wrapped in bacon; pickled onions and gherkins on the side. Wash this down with a glass or two of local select wines and enjoy the ambience. By the way the mountain potatoes are grown locally within 1000 to 1800 metre altitude. The village of Ossein just above Aymavilles is renowned for its dark skinned and sweet tasting potatoes.
Recommended by locals and after a couple visits I'd bet this is the local hotspot in Aymavilles. The place was hopping each evening we went. There are cute outdoor open ended cabins for groups of 8 or so as well as tables and chairs. Indoors the ground floor is a bustle of the bar, kitchen and half dozen tables with more tables below.
Staff are friendly and you can make Reservations. The menu is on the wall offering about a dozen or so 'aperitivo' food options.You can't miss the place. Just drive into Aymavilles and just before the first traffic circle across from the 'Municipio' (town hall) look for a place to park. It's obvious.
