Spent our 25th anniversary dinner here. The salads were superb, with dates, goat cheese, etc. Coconut shrimp was very good but should have been more than 4 for the price charged. The shrimp fettuccine was good, but there could have been less oil on the plate when served. It was drenched.

Teresita's Panderia y Bistro

Welcome to Teresita's Panaderia y Bistro in Alamos, Sonora, Mexico...My little brainchild that got out of control, as wild, creative children do. We evolved from selling a few baguettes a day, a few days a week, to serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We added a special wine menu, featuring Wagner wines imported from California, among others. We love to make specialty desserts such as chocolate, almond torte, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and the classic French tarte tatin. Our breakfast pastries range from warm almond croissant to morning glory muffins, scones and sticky buns. Our house-made breads include, of course, baguettes, but the list has grown to include Italian, Whole-wheat walnut, Rosemary, gluten-free and Organic Sonoran White wheat. We are always experimenting with new ingredients that we find, grow or harvest and will continue to work towards being as local, sustainable and organic as we can be.

This isn’t a Mexican restaurant. We had Fettuccine Alfredo, Spaghetti, pasta primavera, bacon wrapped dates, French baguettes, Monte Carlo Sandwich, as just a sample of our lunch. All fabulous served in a cute setting with very nice wait staff. Nice find in Alamos!Thank you for your review. We think of our restaurant as international. We create favorite recipes with the ingredients we are able to find here in Sonora. I am glad you enjoyed it. Teri

Santiago's Restaurant

We went and enjoyed an excellent Thanksgiving dinner at Santiago's Restaurant. It was simply amazing again as always. As a family, we enjoy this meal every year. From the shrimp appetizer to a traditional Turkey dinner. And to top it all off with a piece of pumpkin pie in Mexico! Thank you Jim and Nancy; Ramon and Jamie for another wonderful experience at the Hacienda de los Santos Santiago's Restaurant.

My husband considered the beef Chile releno to be the best food we had on our week-long tour. The Chile releno came with a half a small fried avocado that was very good. The flan was excellent.

Dona Lola Cenaduria Koki's

Reviewed By Trudy C - Buffalo, New York

Unfortunately, my friend and I saved the best for last. Not well-advertised, we didn’t find Dona Lola’s with its authentic, homemade Mexican fare until our last day in Alamos.
We ate breakfast at a restaurant that is well advertised and has the best reputation in town. We were discussing a return for dinner when a snowbird and her husband overheard our conversation.
“Don’t come back here,” she said. “Have you been to Dona Lola’s? It’s our favorite place; all homemade and so much better than dinner here.”
They gave us directions and we made our plans.
My friend resides in Arizona, visits Mexico often and, cooks and eats Mexican food routinely. She speaks Spanish as well.
Tucked away on a side street in a Mexican barrio, Dona Lola’s is short walk from the plaza and the church which comprises the center of Alamos.
We came upon what was once a home, now converted to a restaurant. We seated ourselves on the raised deck outside, the tables situated with picnic style Seating and covered with oilcloth.
Our hostess mixed a little English in with her Spanish. We started with the best chips and salsa that we had experienced in our two weeks in Alamos. The chips were crisp and fresh with just enough salt; the salsa just red and spicy enough. We asked about chips-to-go and the hostess wrapped up both chips and salsa and for a nominal price, we enjoyed a tasty snack in the car on our trip home the next day.
For a main course, I ordered Mexicana Plata. Our waitress explained that the plate contained an enchilada, a chili relleno, rice and beans.
My friend describes chili rellenos as the benchmark of Mexican cooking. “If you can cook a good chili relleno, you are a true Mexican chef.”
I declared my chili relleno delicious. She tasted it and declared it the best she’d had in Mexico.
The enchilada was tender, easily cut with a fork and stuffed with a rich cheesy filling.
My friend who eats a light supper, decided on the Sopa De Pollo Con Arroz—chicken soup with rice. She enjoyed a rich broth, with large chunks of tender chicken, a plethora of vegetables accompanied by homemade flour tortillas, again the best we’d had on our trip. A ring of limes surrounded the soup and added to its flavor.
The dinner prices were the most reasonable in Alamos.
We hated to leave and wished we had run into the snowbirds and Dona Lola on our first day instead of our last.

La Casa Argentina

Reviewed By nycexpatagain - Albuquerque, New Mexico

On a cool, rainy night everything about the place was welcoming. How to say this without sounding the least bit negative? This was not a shoot the moon place, but it served better food, more graciously and charmingly than any of many restaurant I've eaten in throughout Argentina. I was delighted with the place, the food, the service which was by a thoroughly self-assured young man of, I guess, 14-15. It was lovely and relaxed beginning to end.
