First visit when newly open Great experience all round. Wonderful food and friendly quick service.Second visit average to all of the above.Third and final visit , 6 weeks ago (Lunch on a Saturday) Below average food and terrible inattentive grumpy service . I Think they all had a big night on the previous evening. My Asian salad was slimy from the overdose of dressing that it had been sitting in for a while.My husband meal was over cooked . We didnât return his meal as we actually couldnât get anyone to our table and had had enough by that stage. ( only 4 other tables with guests so not run off their feet), staff more asleep on their feet.It Would be awesome if it went back to how it was on our first visit, reminded me of Chow in Wellington.I find it very difficult to comprehend that a keyboard warrior such as yourself would take 6 weeks to deliver a 1 * review!! Anyone else would have demanded to speak with the manager on duty, allowing them the opportunity to remedy the situation; instead, you chose to wait 6 weeks to post your vitriolic review.Let me give you my 2 cents worth - 95% of my staff don't drink & party, & we always have very busy nights most nights of the week when open (Tuesday - Sunday), but this doesn't have an impact on my team as they are very accustomed to the great environment in which they work, the food we serve & the wonderful feedback we achieve across the board. Our rating throughout the period of your comments were 4 - 5*.Our salads are made a la minute, so never sit in any dressing until ordered, at which time they are tossed & presented immediately to the guest. As you didn't provide sufficient detail on the other meal I'm unable to comment further.You didn't elaborate further regarding your dining experience, therefore I cannot comment .Chow

Perfectly placed on the sea front below Mt Maunganui this cafe has the makings of a winner. Good coffee and a hearty big breakfast option. Good cafe-standard fare.

I ordered the 'Fish' (at $26 well above average cafe prices even at the Mount). It was delicious. The white fish (species not identified) was cooked almost perfectly still juicy but cooked with tasty caramelisation on the outside. It sat on a sea of kumara (sweet potato) mash, which provided and earthy sweetness - one that I at first questioned when paired with delicate white fish, however, the miso shitake mushrooms cut through the mash adding their own notes of salt and savoury. I think the sesame brittle not only added to the beauty of the presentation but helpoed tie the mash (sweet and earthy) with the mushrooms (Asian and slightly sweet and savoury). Perhaps because it really was perfectly cooked (I resisted using the word perfect because surely anything could be a little better, but my only complaint about the fish would be that as I ate the residual heat gradually tipped it from perfect to ever so slightly overcooked, but still tender juicy and delicious) somehow the delicate fish held its own as centerpiece against the vigorous competition. Barbara also remarked how beautiful the plate looked. Her chowder was good. Her only complaint that she prefers some chunks of potato to a truely smoothe chowder but then she grew up in Ireland ;)Thanks for sharing! We always appreciate honest feedback and specially such detailed ones. I can only apologise for our waitress not having told the fish of the day, which was Hapuka. I will make sure our Chef Chris sees your wonderful compliments on his food. Hope to see you again soon.

Four of us came for lunch today & even with an unfortunate incident where the manager had to take someone to hospital, the restaurant continued to operate with little if any inconvenience to guests, sure we had a little longer wait for our orders to be taken but as we were a group with plenty of catching up to do this wasn't a problem. All of us enjoyed our meals - very tasty! The waitress was friendly, we appreciated her letting us know what was happening, & overall the service was up there.
