I took my good Friend and work colleague here after a successful week in the office. As celebratory restaurants go, I figured a steak and a good bottle of red pinotage from South Africa would go pretty well.I like how the GrillHouse gives you a choice of accompanying side dishes and a sort of local chutney-type dish but the beef is excellent on its own. There are other choices on the menu but to choose anything else, well, itâs like a Kobe born cow walking into a field of fresh green grass and sake and choosing to eat dry grain. They just wouldnât, would they.The setting is rough and ready, very bricky. it is a big place to fill and when it is packed out itâs loud but thereâs space between tables so no fear of being overheard. Location in Melrose Arch is good for people visiting who want a place near to the hotel and you can get a drink before dinner across the street or a coffee afterwards at the French cafe Paul. We enjoyed Cilantros from the moment we were met at the door. Friendly and efficient staff, snappy service and great value for money. Our meals were tasty and the portion sizes spot-on. Highly recommended in a quaint decor setting! An enjoyable evening all round.

I love the Grillhouse Sandton but the service outside on the deck on a Friday evening is shocking. The place is packed and people are eager to spend but canât find any waiters. They donât seem to have sections or tables they are assigned to and there are not nearly enough of them. When you catch a different waiter and order, nothing happens. If you order from a manager, nothing happens. The San Bar up the hill from you has always been like this and thatâs why people donât like going there. You need to fix this, guys. At first I was put off by the extensive menu but was quickly charmed by the attentive professional staff. And then the food started coming out - everything was superb.The Peri-Peri Chicken Liver appetizer is a must as is the grilled calamari. We shard and tasted entree items from a Chicken Curry to Barramundi fish with vegetables to Lamb Chops and Salmon Poke Bowl - each was delicious The only reason Iâm not giving it 5 stars is that the food all came out too quickly. Before we could finish appetizers the entrees were arriving and it felt rushed. An interesting problem in South Africa where many restaurants are known for poor and slow service.....The place has a great vibe and is packed or a reason - they deliver good food at a great price!
