The Beefy Boys

Id like to start this out by saying that Beefy Boys is fine, they do decent food and the two times I've been have been pretty much akin to any other restaurant. What irks me is the overhwelming reputation this place has as, seemingly, the greatest restaurant to ever appear in Hereford. Its not.2 things stood out for me as absolutely abysmal in my visit this evening. Number 1; we ordered a side of cheesy chips, they arrived as just a bowl of chips with cold grated cheese on top. What absolute lunatic thinks that cheesy chips is just grated cheese on chips. For the love of god, melt the cheese.2; one of the burgers (the Lonely Boy, £7.50) comes with a plastic cheese single on it.... How can you charge £7.50, just for the burger, and put a 10p slice of plastic cheese on it... It just smacks of a kitchen that doesnt actually give much of a sh*t about the quality they put out given the price we are expected to pay for it.So again, Beefy Boys is fine, the food is tasty and the staff friendly, but it absolutely doesn't deserve the reputation it has and is far too expensive for what they actually put on a plate.Hey mate thanks for dropping by and leaving us a review, glad you kind of enjoyed your meal. We apologise for your cheese not being melted. We have a really small kitchen at The Beefy Boys that sadly doesn’t contain a grill to melt cheese, we do however offer our HPA nacho cheese sauce made with Wye Valley ale, cheese and truffle oil for fries that might be a better option for you than the grated cheese. As for the American (and Swiss) cheese we use on our burgers it’s the combination of cheeses we have always used. It’s a contentious issue but in our opinion American cheese is THE best cheese for a burger it has a extremely low melting point is salty and tangy and does not split like cheddar or most cheese do when melted I wouldn’t put it on a cheese board at Christmas but for a burger there’s no better. This stops the burger from becoming greasy we pair this with Swiss cheese that also has a low melting point and is creamy and rich. It’s those two cheese that have always been our signature. We can however swap this out for cheddar if that’s your personal preference Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the review

The Wellington

My wife and I dropped in today to have lunch and chose a dish called Willy’s (hope I got the name correct!) chicken and rice with chips. It was very disappointing when food was served: a measly portion of rice and a handful of chips with chicken curry in a Balti dish with a few “home cooked” prawn crackers. Chicken curry was tasteless, the portion of rice and chips enough to feed a child and the so called home cooked prawn crackers were hard! May be because we were touring Hereford and couldn’t find a better place to eat out, we ended up going to The Wellington. Frankly, I cannot recommend it to anyone nor would I wish to eat out there again. Simply, it’s not value for money!
