A restaurant with its own brewery proved irresistible for our large group of touring Morris dancers, wives and friends so it was no surprise that we came back here several times on our visit. The temperature was over 30C but the trees along the river bank provided plenty of shade for dancing and the brewery provided excellent beer for re-hydration. Heaven!

We went to Kriemhilde twice during our three-day stay in Worms. Many of the best restaurants in Worms are Italian, and since we live in Italy part of the year we had no need for Italian food outside of Italy. We did try an Indian/Pakistani restaurant one evening, but the choices were limited in the area of our hotel. Kriemhilde was worth the repeat visit. Our first course on the first evening was a dish of trout and salmon on toast with salad, and was followed by a lamb shank and a Holsteiner pork schnitzel. Our wine was a red riesling, which was entirely new to us and a pleasant surprise. The second evening we had two schnitzels, the Odenwalder and the champignon. All these dishes were excellent, as were the potato accompaniments, pommes frites with weisskrautsalat and the gourmet pommes with bacon, onions, and parsley. Like many businesses in Germany, Kriemhilde accepts only German credit cards. Nevertheless, we would not hesitate to return here a third time if we are ever in Worms again.

Most things in Worms are a bit muted and undersold for the visitor. Schnitzelhut is the exact opposite - itâs an extravaganza of schnitz. There must be Schnitzel thirty different ways, all with fries and salad. (Other carbs options available.) It comes in two sizes: big and twice as much. Given the small difference in price the temptation this there...As one might expect they have got the cooking of these off pat, so if you are hearing the call of the schnitz then this is the place. My companion was pork-sceptical but under the pressure of âwhy go to schnitzelhut and eat not schnitzelâ went for it: and had to admit it was well good. They certainly hit the bullseye on these. We ate outside on the terrace in the summer, but inside looks cute and cosy. The waitress was amusing and droll, which is an unusual thing. Much to my surprise some people did not eat the named dish, but went for spaghetti or steak. One guy even ordered a salad! If my German is reading this right, one could order a schnitzel salad, as opposed to a salad with schnitzel. OK, if being different is your thing. But he went for the no compromise meat free one! Iâd have put money on this being a theoretical option. Bet they donât sell many of those.I quite liked the cathedral in Worms, but if I went there again Iâd be planning to visit Schnitzelhut first. And Iâd be careful about Tuesdays â I think it closes then. Check that out.

Surrounded by two alleys of huge, old planes, one along the river Rhine, the premisses of Altes Ruderhaus ( hotel opened in 2016) are beautifully located at the outskirts of historical Worms, the new bridge over Rhine and the Nibelungenturm in view. We arrived just after heavy rainfall, the parking lot full of mud and no sign from which side to enter the premises. But when we finally found the entrance along the south side, we were really amazed of this fine spot, the well-furnished, modern, clean room, the pleasant staff in the restaurant. Though there are other spots along the Rhine a few steps away, we preferred to have dinner on the Altes Ruderhaus restaurant terrace overlooking the Rhine scene, boats floating along. A good choice of wines and beers, dishes also for veggies, fair prices. Also the breakfast was fine. In brief, we liked itAs it was very hot, we missed a climate control in the room, but that was the only drawback. So, to sum up: excellent location, fine rooms, fine restaurant. But please update the parking lot. And, yes, the wifi in the room was perfect but no signal in the restaurant. However, I understood, that the management of the restaurant is not the same as the hotel management, though they are working closely together. When booking in Worms, be aware of the yearly Nibelungen festival week in summer. It might be very crowded then.

What luck to find this restaurant on my way. They have a German menu with lots of local specialities. Difficult to choose but I ordered the Knoedel with a separate salad. The waitress was very friendly and very efficient. Food was excellent. The restaurant was almost full of German people enjoying their lunch. Usually a good sign. Definitely recommended whenever you visit Worms

I simply love the Wein- und Bierschanke... It a simple place, not fancy at all, with lots of character and great food. Everything you order there has something special... the Flammkuchen are just great, the meat skewers that they hang from the lamps (in the photo above) are great option!! Everyone will find something delicious to eat here!!But like I said, bring your light spirit and don't expect nothing fancy!

During the recent heatwave in Worms, Kolb's Biergarten (or 'Kolbe Gretchen' as it is known locally) was the perfect spot to be. Sitting under the trees along the Rhine with their perfect 'Knusperhaehnchen' was delightful. They serve 'Mittagstisch' too and it has been a very popular spot for many years, so reservations are recommended.

We ate here on the first night of a two-week trip and the meal is among the best we had. We had pork tenderloin prepared two different ways and each was very good. Nice salad bar. We would recommend although it is away from the city center and very little English is spoken here.
