Esszimmer - Das Restaurant im Inselloft

We went to Norderney just for fun. I had some spare time and my girlfriend had to stay on the island for a cure. It was the evening before her birthday, so we decided to have dinner in a hidden place. We placed a reservation one week in advance and then went to the "Esszimmer" translated dining room. The atmosphere was very familiar. We felt just like in our own kitchen without having to cook anything. We enjoyed the 3 course menu with the entrecote and the prawns. It was excellent. I perhaps had never a better entrecote then there. The wine recommendation for the whites was ok, on the reds it was a little bit careless. But finally the evening was outstanding. Not only because of the very carrying staff. We definitively will go there again next time when we stay on this island.

This place is busy! The Flammkuchen was OK, a little different than we expected. The location is very central and very popular. Guests were circling for tables, which was a bit uncomfortable (outside).

We came a few times to this bar, café and restaurant right on the beach promenade of Norderney. Good breakfast and excellent coffees made our stay enjoyable. Unfortunately the two different wines which we ordered during an afternoon visit were far too warm so we had to order ice to cool it down. Is this a helpful review? Then please give me a "Thumbs up Thank FrankGeisler" by clicking the button below.

Andre's Restaurant

Reviewed By Bernie1960s

We ate spaghetti and shrimp, flounder and then had Tiramisu and coffee. Everything was edible and, in fact, quite tasty. We tried to pay with Visa and they do not accept it. The owner (Andre) and the server became quite loud and unpleasant in an instant, demanded cash payment and had all the other guests shudder with disbelief. I walked back to the hotel, they kept my wife hostage and when I came back (got lost on the way) I gave them the cash (no tip) and they gave me my wife back. I loved it. Good people, good exercise and (considering I got her back) a good deal for 68 Euros...Lieber Bernie1960s.Schön das Sie unser Restaurant besucht haben und Ihn das Essen geschmeckt hat.

I'm always hesitating to give 5 stars to a restaurant and rather avoid doing it... But here is an exception to my rule for the following reasons: first of all, the various fish dishes we had were all excellent. But in addition, the price was really reasonable, the service was correctly fast and the personnel was so charming and helpful! So why not giving a 5 after spending such a delicious evening. Keep going guys.

Weisse Duene

This restaurant/cafe/lounge area is situated about 50 meters from the beach but is hidden behind large sand dunes so you cant see the sea from it.... However if you've spent most of your day at the beach or just cycling around Norderney it's the ideal place to stop and eat/rest. It is very busy and at time it's hard to find a seat... But be patient and you'll get one as people move on fairly fast. The seating outside is large comfortable couches. They tend to be hard to get as people spend ages just sitting outside. Service is fairly prompt but they are very busy. Ice cream is served in tin mugs and is very nice. Service is friendly. We sat in the lounge part closest to the beach around the central fireplace... It was comfortable and had a nice breeze blowing through. They do evening meals but you must book first and they are booked out a few days in advance..... We didn't book. Waiters were seen polishing wine glasses ready for the evening... Laying tables. Well worth a visit... Many years ago it was just a small kiosk! Norderney is in fact going upmarket slowly. Close by there is a massive parking place for bicycles... And also a carpark. Buses run the the "Weisse Duene" too but I'm not sure how regularly. From the town to WD is about 20 mins on a bike... Our son 6 did it twice in one day.

I visited Friedrich for New Year's Eve. The first thought that came to my mind once I walked in was that it had a big city feel and flare. I loved everything from service to food and atmosphere. Considering this was New Year's Eve, the place was full to capacity. The staff were so great at accommodating all requests. Food is delicious and it is clear that everything is made on the spot with amazing presentation and even more taste. They also have a large selection of great wines. I would strongly recommend Friedrich to any wine lover as they have something for everyone's taste.

De Leckerbeck has many choices of fish and meat menu. The price is quiet moderate. I ate 'Fisch teller Norderney' for the 1st dinner and 'Fisch Mantel' for the 2nd dinner. The taste of food was really good. It was a little bit difficult to reserve the table as the restaurant was always full. For the 1st dinner we made the reservation on 06.30 pm and we had the table on the 1st floor near the door to the terrace. The table 24 was not really good as the waitress and the guests went around our table and the door next to us was opened and closed all the time.On the 2nd dinner we had only the choice for the reservation on 05.30 pm or 07.30 pm. We chose the reservation at 05.30 pm and we got the table again on the 1st floor but on the side, and it was better than near the door to the terrace. The food here is good but the atmosphere is not really comfortable if we would like to enjoy the relax dinner as the space to the other tables is very near and the public is noisy. It is not flexible to make the reservation as we usually have the choice of reservation at 05.30 pm or at 07.30 pm. We should be a little bit in a hurry by the dinner. The waitress was a little bit hustle and bustle. On the 2nd dinner she has first forgotten to bring me the side dish 'mix salat' but she is friendly indeed. For the better relax atmosphere it is better to choose other restaurants but for just dinner with a good taste food, De Leckerbeck is recommended.

Seesteg

Seesteg is a wonderful restaurant with excellent food and refined cooking. You can chose between two marvelous views:either the sea or the open kitchen where you see a concentrated and gifted team at work. As a starter I had scallops with peas, melons and chorizo. The presentation was amazing. As a main:deer. As a dessert a combination of amalfi lemons. I opted for the wine selction. This was excellent. Service was quick, friendly, competent. The location is overwhelming. Prizes were reasonable, the quality of the food and the high performance of the cuisine taken into account. The three course menu costed 60 Euros. Do not miss the occasion for an exceptional dinner experience. Reserve a table.
