Biergarten Rauschbart

It's a wee bite of a hike up from the car park but the view from the beer garden is spectacular. The menu is limited to chicken, sausages and a couple of daily specials. Food is freshly cooked and the half chicken comes with the best crispy skin I have ever had. Dress warmly, don't wear fancy footwear and take your camera. It's lovely.

Probably the best venison we have ever had - perfectly prepared. Also the most tender light spaetzle. Our whole dinner was fantastic - the window view from our table, the service, all the courses. Dessert was a deconstructed Black Forest Cake. Very expensive but worth it.

Lamm Hotel-Restaurant

Reviewed By eh_tonnant_voyageur

I stayed in this hotel for business reasons a minimum of 2 weeks per month from January to June 2016. I had dinner here at least 3 times per week, each week. Let’s call that insider knowledge. This is a typical German Gästehaus, clean, functional, no fancy, and decent prices. It’s managed by 2 generations of the same family. The younger generation is smiling… Only problem of this hotel is noise insulation. When the hotel is busy, you can expect a quiet sleep only from 10:30pm to 5:30am. Until the kitchen on ground floor is still working or the last guest is back in his room, and as soon as someone will use the rest-rooms or take a shower, you’re done. But this varies depending on the rooms. Besides, the hotel has been partly renovated only; the left aisle above the dining rooms, is still somewhat shabby. The combination of uneven noise insulation and more or less refreshed room makes that not all rooms are equal. The best rooms are numbers 210, 211, 219, 220, and the best of all is 212, which has been renovated with good taste and is quiet. You can try rooms 101 and 304 as well, not bad, though 304 has no shutters, only curtains which are not efficient against morning light, and no water pressure for the shower. On the contrary, avoid by all means rooms 206 and 207, globally all rooms above the dining rooms, and the single rooms with a small bed (90 cm wide) which are depressing. There is free Wi-Fi everywhere, though signal is very weak in some rooms. The food is very good, one of the only 3 places where you can decently eat in this region. Breakfast is good as well, but German style only, meaning a big choice of proteins, but no sweeties except some mini-croissants. Waiters and waitresses are very friendly and professional, specially the plump lady who cares about breakfast. So, being a frequent guest, you would guess that I had a special treatment. I did, but not as expected: when the hotel was packed in April and May, the owners systematically put me in their worse rooms (see above). That’s when I decided to leave and go somewhere else.

Landgasthof Kaiser Hotel Restaurant

We stayed here for 5 nights. The rooms are comfortable, but typical of a country public house (don't expect 5 star accommodation, but it is perfectly adequate). We were looked after extremely well by Simon and his staff, the breakfasts were very good and the meals in the restaurant are excellent. The restaurant menu is very good, but they also take pride in serving food in season. We certainly hope to return here one day.It is a good base for touring this area of Germany and is easy driving from Stuttgart and is also close to Rottenburg where there are some nice buildings. Note a couple of things for visitors, at the time of our visit, the restaurant did not open on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and the establishment did not take credit cards. Top!

This place was great. They have all the classic German comfort food: schnitzel, spatzel, braten, and more. They allowed substitutions and customizations to our menu selections, don't be afraid to order off-menu. Servers were friendly and very attentive, great with our kids. We don't speak German and they spoke little English, but we managed to communicate effectively enough and everyone got what they wanted to eat. Definitely get a side salad with your meal. It was mixed greens lightly dressed but also had potato salad, cooked carrots, and some other odd toppings, surprising and very very good.
