Detmold (German pronunciation: [ˈdɛtmɔlt]) is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, with a population of about 73,400 (2013). It was the capital of the small Principality of Lippe from 1468 until 1918 and then of the Free State of Lippe until 1947. Today it is the administrative center of the district of Lippe and of the Regierungsbezirk Detmold. The Church of Lippe has its central administration located in Detmold. The Reformed Redeemer Church is the preaching venue of the state superintendent of the Lippe church.

Literally just five minutes from where I live, one of those places you alway wonder what it's like inside...The menu is very small and changes frequently so you never get the same food twice. German kitchen so if you like meats, potatoes, dumplings and red cabbage etc. you'll be in heaven! The restaurant is very clean, great service very tasty food, not to much and not too little. Been back twice since and enjoyed every meal.

Gutes Essen mit wunderbarem Ausblick auf das Lipperland mit dem Hermann im Hintergrund. Bodenständiges und leckeres Speise und Kuchenangebot. Der Matjes war frisch, die Bratkartoffeln knusprig auch der Kuchen sehr lecker.Wir kommen wieder.

Ob nur mal auf ein Bier -allein - oder in geselliger Runde, zum Essen und klönen, oder einfach zur Unterhaltung: Das "Knispel" ist für alles bestens geeignet. Gute Küche, guter Service und der Chef Thomas kocht selbst und wirklich sehr gut. Preis - Leistungsverhältniss ist absolut in Ordnung. Zentral mitten im Ortsteil Hiddesen gelegen. Bei gutem Wetter auch gern mal im Biergarten. Für Familien und kleine Gruppen (10 - 15 Pers.) gut geeignet. Da kommt man gern wieder. Absolut zu empfehlen.

It was so eye-catching menu on the list so that i finally decided to try this menu. I was kinda excited to taste and see how it looked like. The meat was so fine and soft and it tasted me like hungarian gulasch and suited to indonesian cuisine "rendang" but not really hot and without coconut milk. The noodle which is spätzle was really good cooked. I could eat it all till the last bite, i'm actually not a big fan of red cabbage but the red cabbage tastes different if you mix together. The cook has tried hard to make it warm so that we feel like being home and it was brought right from the kitchen.I tried the red wine conte di campiano primitivo di manduria from Italy which costed around â¬20 and was really good as the companion. The design of the restaurant is good, intimate, romantic candle light dinner. But i was a bit unhappy as we got there, there weren't so many people maybe because of the location. But if you want to try something "westfalen" this could be your choice in Detmold.

This restaurant has a simple 3 step process of ordering your schnitzel. 1st pick your schnitzel 2nd pick the crust/sauce 3rd pick the side. All schnitzels we have tried were amazing and the staff is incredibly friendly

A spontaneous dinner for two. As always the food here is great, and as always we always over do the starter consequently making the main meal a struggle. This is a great restaurant and is well visited every day of the week. Have eaten here many times over the years and will continue to do so for many years to come...

We went for a hike, and had a lovely lunch in this cosy place. Very friendly people served fresh food: delicious homemade soup and salad. After our hike we went back for the best piece of pie ever! We are definitly coming back

Quality of food has significantly decreased. My mother always warned me to eat in restaurants with pictures of the dishes in their menu, so if you want to enjoy a good glass of local beer in a nice atmosphere go there, but don´t expect too much from the chef.Thank you very much for your valuation.
