A welcome place from the bustling and touristic via Portici. The spaghetti (al dente!) and the mussels (cozze) were delicious, also the tomato, feta (with some other ingredients) salad was nicely presented and prepared! Service was courteous and friendly! - a very positive surprise were the washrooms/toilets!

Hotel con ristorante pizzeria che si trova sulla vecchia statale che conduce a Merano.Bel hotel con belle sale ristorante in parte con arredamento tradizionale e in parte in stile più moderno.Cucina buona e varia con piatti classici della cucina tirolese e italiana: si possono gustare piatti tradizionali come i canederli o la selvaggina o piatti mediterranei e a base di pesce. We selected this restaurant due to the TA rating, made a reservation for 20:30.We arrived and, without any warm welcome, received the worst table, without a view.The female owner informed us about the food selection while her husband was sitting outside, eating a delivered Pizza out of the carton. The selection was small, very small, two different soups and two different main courses. We selected one soup with dumpling and one with barley as well as one main course with sausage and one with smokes meat.The taste of the two soups was both okay, pretty standard - but my girlfriend got a little extra: a hair in her soup. The main courses were a complete joke, two thin slices of smokes meat and one sausage, together with a lot of sauerkraut - and no other garnish. When we finished the plates were cleared and they started to clean the kitchen. While other guests received some attention we were just forgotten for about 20 minutes, until I asked for the bill (which also took a while since she was serving other guests dessert and her husband talking to a young guy).We didn't feel welcome at all, the complete service was without any emotion. Come, eat & go.While we were eating we observed the hygiene in this restaurant - and were shocked. The family arrives back to the kitchen from their Pizza dinner outside - without washing their hand. Also the female owner - between serving - is cleaning tables, bringing out rubbish, and goes on serving without washing hands. Due to this observation we were skipping our dessert which we then had downtown Merano.Really, I can't understand all the reviews about this restaurant. Food is bad, portions are small, service is unfriendly and the hygiene basically not existing. During our 2.5 week trip through Europe this was by far the worst dinner we had.

During our return to Merano in 2019 Forsterbrau restaurant once again played a key role in our great time that we had. Visiting and eating in the restaurant is all around great experience. Service is excellent. All staff move around like well oiled machine, yet machine with a nice human touch and care.The food here is spot on. God combination of the classic Tyrolean and Italian cuisine, always with a slight twist as the seasonal ingredience allow. However all we tasted here was VERY GOOD. Can't wait to visit some time in the future. Sure there wil be next time.

The hotel and restaurant is situated in the middle of forests, close to the village Verano and Merano with a stunning panoramic view, alpine-mediterranean food and cosy Rooms.

We had lunch at the waldbichl which was the destination of the daily hiking trip. The food was good and we had a nice snaps which is a speciality up here. I would go again.

Wir haben in der Alpenrose sehr gut gegessen. Knödel Suppe, Spiegeleier mit Speck und auch das Wiener Schnitzel waren wirklich gut. Warum also nur 3 von 5 Punkte? Als wir mit dem Essen fertig waren kam um kurz nach 19:30 Uhr eine junge Familie mit einem Baby ins Restaurant und wollte noch essen. Leider wurde die Familie weil exakt 8 Minuten zu spät nicht mehr bedient und weiter geschickt. Sowas geht garnicht daher wegen schlechtem Service die Bewertung.

We were ready for anything but the warm and generous welcome plus the efficient service soon meant we were relaxing on a sun drenched terrace. Good food excellent drinks and a really fun atmosphere made for a memorable stop over before continuing on our 6 hour walking tour.

After a long day's walk, the 2 things you need is (1) someone not explaining that there is a lovely all-inclusive menu for relatively cheap that beats your pasta anytime and (2) charge you 2.60 euros for a 3 minutes shower token without telling youWhen I pointed out that room+breakfast was not included on my bill and therefore I should pay for it which added another 23 euros, all I got was a gruntCheer up man and learn service

We've returned here this year. We compared this restaurant with other ones we passed walking, this one had a signigicant larger menu.For the kids, there was Kaiserschmarren - lovely pancakes. We had a pasta and a plate of local meats and cheeses. Lovely.
