Great quick service & very reasonably priced food! We went Tuesday & got these two HUGE burgers for £6 each! Staff are always very friendly and the environment is casually smart, so it feels like a treat but you're comfortable & at ease. Perfect all rounder :)

Nice ambiance... but unfortunately the food is awful.. . fish was all batter.. so greasy it made you feel sick and the most expensive roast dinner in Salisbury was shocking... very beige.. tasteless and small.. won't eat there againHi,Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate all feedback.I'm sorry that on this occasion you didn't feel we delivered our usual exceptionally high standard. Our fish and chips is usually very highly regarded and I apologise that you found the roast was not to your taste. With so many items on the plate - meat, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, red cabbage, spring greens, roasted carrots, swede puree, cauliflower cheese, extra gravy - I appreciate that the individual items may have appeared small. I would like to reassure you though, that we are always very happy to provide extra for those with larger appetites and strive for our guests to leave feeling happy and full.I do hope you'll pop in and give us another try soon.All the best,Claire

This is definitely an old English Pub. It dates form 1326 and is alledgedly haunted.That aside, we were not expecting anything special in the food but we were pleasantly suprised. I had the venison stew and it was amazing. Someone else had the venison sausage and it was delicious. What a great place. The bar downstairs is tiny and cozy and upstairs is the main dining area. What a great place. You have to stop there if only for a drink.

Decent pub food. Nothing special. For pub food unusual small portions, but that's fine. Service was ok after i finally got to order. But that took some time even though they notoced me and it wasn't busy. The place itself looks like what you'd expect from an old rural English pub. So big plus on the atmosphere

We were looking for somewhere for lunch, having visited the Cathedral, and spotted this old inn, which has been refurbished in a contemporary eclectic style and has an excellent menu, different to the normal predictable pub fare, including plaice and macaroni cheese in addition to the old stalwarts like fish and chips.Being a Tuesday lunchtime, it was relatively quiet inside - the garden area outside was quite busy. Service was friendly and fast and the food was well-cooked and enjoyable.Ten out of ten!Ian - thank you so much for such a lovely review - perfectly strive what we are all trying to achieve every day ... hope to see you again soon

My company now use the Chapterhouse for most stays and meals due to consistently good food, service and value.This particular evening was a department dinner out and was as great as always. We had the baked camembert and South African sharing board starters which were excellent (although it came with only one boerewors which wasn't enough to all share - needs two and maybe one less ribs).All bar one had steaks for mains and they were all perfectly cooked with nice chips and salad (and a great mushroom sauce for me). We were too full for deserts!Great Aspalls cider on draft, all staff were lovely as usual, we left happy!
