Sometimes (not that often) a meal gets into a happening. This occured in Bastia once at La Fabrica. One week later (since we could not resist to return) it happened (to our surprise) again! The owner is an entertainer, the chef and the sommelier are masters. So it is very easy, let them compose the dinner and the euphoria will enter! Do not worry, the bill will surprise as well, can not be more priceworthy.

La Gaffe occupies an excellent location, next to the marina and very close to the shoreline. It has a more calm, sophisticated atmosphere than other surrounding restaurants, which really allows you to enjoy your meal and dining experience to the fullest.The wine selection is excellent, including the wines served by the glass. The service above all else shines through, our waiter was patient, knowledgeable and very helpful. Just great.The food was very good; prepared and presented well, with creative pairings. Some of these were more enjoyable/effective than others, which occasionally detracted from, rather than enhancing or complementing the dishes flavours. The desserts were good, perhaps these did not quite live up to the rest of the courses, but this is a small chink in an otherwise impervious armour.The cost, whilst not excessive for the quality, is high, and I feel the quality justified the bill. The serving/portion size is smaller than you may expect, however not unreasonable for fine dining. I would recommend booking 1-2 days in advance as the restaurant is justifiably busy, particularly in the high season.

Actually the food was just okay but the service really ruined our evening. The young server was incredibly rude and arrogant. Perhaps he will learn to treat customers better when he grows up.

We arrived near Bastia (Biguglia) for just one night. It was Saturday evening and we have heard it will be difficult to find out à available and good table at Bastia itself at this time. So we stopped at the Umbria tavern. The plates were huge !! Everything is good, fries are home made and are delicious. Price are affordableArrivant à Bastia un samedi soir, nous apprenons quâil va être difficile de trouver un bon restau sans réservation. Nous nous arrêtons donc à lâUmbria. We were just looking for a quick dinner after a long journey and this restaurant far surpassed our expectations. We were served quickly, by friendly staff and the food was great! Big bowls of pasta and mussels, which were just what we needed and more! Good central location overlooking the square and ferry ports. All in all a very relaxing and enjoyable meal!merci et a bientot....
