Dawlish /ˈdɔːlɪʃ/ is an English seaside resort town and civil parish in Teignbridge on the south coast of Devon, 12 miles (19 km) from the county town of Exeter. It had a population of 12,345, which decreased to 11,893 at the 2011 census. During the 18th century, it grew from a small fishing port into a well-known seaside resort. Its nearest neighbour, Teignmouth, developed in a similar way during the 19th century.

The place does not fill you with confidence, the shop was empty when we ordered and the guy behind the counter was friendly but didn't really seem to fully understand our order. Anyway we returned half an hour later and the place was still empty, took our food home fearing the worst but in fact it was perfectly OK, had much better but not the worst by a long way.

We visited this chippy a few times whilst staying at the holiday park. The chips tasted good and i thoroughly enjoyed the kebab with mint and yogurt sauce. There was no salad available for kebab which seemed odd seeing as theres a supermarket directly opposite. There was no jacket potatoes either but im guessing it was due to it being end of season

Grabbed a takeaway from here while on our holidays. It was very busy and parking was a little difficult. It was very busy with lots of phone orders and people waiting for food but it was well worth the wait. Itâs an open kitchen so you can see your food being cooked and when we got it back to our accommodation we were not disappointed. Portion sizes where good and all our dishes where excellent. I would recommend the spring rolls and Singapore chow mien although all our dishes were tasty.

Visiting family in Teignmouth weâd seen this place earlier and that it was open until 9:30 on Fridays and planned our evening meal for four here. Walked in to the restaurant at 8:15, there were no customers in there. As we approached one of the two waitresses looked at her watche and said something to the other. On opening the door she said to us âweâre closing now, no more ordersâ. and that was the end of that. Thankfully we found a lovely seafood restaurant around the corner which welcomed us and made the best Fish & Chips weâve had in years. I guess it worked out for us in the end, just not with the frosty reception at Finn McCools.

HAD A FIRST CLASS LUNCH THERE TODAY. Service good and the meal excellent. Had the smaller version which was more than adequate (I am a small eater).Can highly recommend it.

On Saturday 21/9/19 we bought meals here. We had Chicken Curry and Special mixed meat, prawns veg all with egg fried rice. For a start it was lukewarm and needed to be microwaved for a few minutes. It tasted absolutely terrible. We both tried to carry on eating but both gave up and couldn't continue. Not sure which dish was to blame as we shared the two things on both of our plates but I think it was probably the special and the beef was so tough could even cut it let alone chew. If I had been given this in a restaurant would have refused to pay the bill or asked for refund if we had already paid it. As it was a very busy take away on this particular evening and would have involved scraping the offending messy food into a bag to return we just threw it away. This is a shame as we live only a few doors away but we won't be going there again. What a waste of £15.00!543Tomel I am sorry to learn that you did not consider our food matched your expectations on this occasion. In this , very rare occurrence we would request that the food is returned so that we may 1. resolve the issue and 2. look at how and why so that we can correct procedures if needed. We use a superior quality of meat and I am very surprised that you found the beef tough. Thank you for the review.

Popped in for a takeaway despite the last average one and found it had got worse instead of better, duck and mushrooms was dry and chewy, crispy beef was soggy beef and so chewy it went into the bin. Only dish which was OK was the sweet and sour Won't be returning

Me and a couple friends ventured deep into the Teignmouth backstreets after a wonderful day in the sea. We were all absolutely ravenous and fancied some classic seaside fish and chips, which is how we stumbled across this establishment.We went in and the gentleman behind the counter was incredibly welcoming. He asked us how our day was and made us feel welcome. The waitress in the restaurant, Mia I believe her name is, was incredibly kind and warm and was excellent at serving us. She was very easy to talk to and very efficient at her job, it made our experience 10x better!As for the food itself, it was incredibly high quality for the price. My local chip shop is far lower in quality yet still higher in price. If you want great value for money, the Jolly Good Fish Cafe is the place for you. I had the calamari which was utterly Divine, and I couldnât get enough of the chips and curry sauce. All in all it was very high quality, I was blown away!Iâm yet to find a better fish and chip shop establishment in Teignmouth, I will definitely be going back for more Calamari!Hi, your detailed review is really appeciated and I will ensure Mia receives your great feedback...she is very professional and is a joy to employ.
