We were on a short break in Torquay and had seen "Amici" whilst walking around the town. We returned in the evening, and were pleasantly surprised. The waitresses were polite, friendly and efficient. The drinks and food were very good. And whilst the tables are comparatively close, the layout and the dividers didn't make you feel like you were squashed in.

We went here to celebrate my daughter's graduation and what a great idea that was.From the moment you approach the front of the restaurant you know that you are going to experience food at its finest.The welcome we received was very friendly and the choice of food was mouth-watering.2 of us chose the lobster starter, we agreed that we have never tasted anything so amazing in our lives.We followed this with a perfectly cooked fillet steak.A day later and we are still talking about the quality of this meal.The service was very friendly and attentive without being obtrusive.The meal was not cheap but it was less than I thought it was going to be and worth every penny.I live less than 50 miles from Torquay and will make this trip on occasions just to visit this restaurant.

Visited on a Tuesday evening on a recent trip to Torquay. Excellent food. Complimentary sourbread was provided. Thoroughly enjoyed the crab risotto and my lamb dish was excellent (mushrooms were delicious). A side order of potato dauphinoise was lovely and enough to share ....we asked the waiter to recommend sides (in terms of how much to order and what would match) and he said he couldn't, which was rather strange. Unfortunately I was too full for dessert, but did try a little of husband's chocolate sphere which was gorgeous. Wine was well priced. Food was excellent, but as a couple of other recent reviews have highlighted it just felt something was lacking from the overall experience. I'm all for making fine dining more informal and less pretentious, but it's not a cheap night and for me should feel really special in all aspects.

What can I say it was the first time visit at The Orange Tree in Torquay from the moment we walked into the restaurant we felt like royalty. We were not rushed we could take our time to talk it was peaceful and calm. Plenty of choices from the menu all reasonably priced for a restaurant, all food cooked on the premises delicious and so tasty with flavours.10/10Nothing to much trouble even asking us if we would like more crackers with our cheese and biscuit desert. Our family of seven dined here and enjoyed it! Nice atmosphere and service with good food selection. The girls liked the child portion of chicken souvlaki and I enjoyed the Greek salad and dolmades. Also excellent were the vegetarian mousaka and the lamb guvec. Would definitely return again.

Always go by your recommendations so when I entered best Sunday lunch and Orestone Manor came up I booked I was advised the time shiw on there site was incorrect and we were booked in at 12.15 lunch time I stated I was allergic to Black peppers he went away to the Chef then came back to us saying all of there Sunday roasts were drenched in pepper all night and the roast potatoes I have never come across this before as they were advertising the roasts Beef,pork Chicken you would have thought that one of the three would have been supplied without adding pepperes I had to end up with fish for Sunday lunch not what I wanted I think they should advertise that they add these allergic items so people are aware Graham Thurston the fish was very good and the serviceWe are please you enjoyed the fish and service. Our website does clearly state our dinning times . However as with all restaurants time slots do get booked up. It sounds to me 12.15 was the only time slot we had available when you booked. I see from your booking that you booked through open table ( a third party booking agent). If you had phoned us directly we would have asked if you had any dietary requirements. We would have been more than happy to accommodate your pepper allergy had we known. Unfortunately the nature of a roast is the preparation beforehand hence the inflexibility. The Orestone Manor does always try to accommodate all allergies but it is best that we know upon booking. We do hope we can welcome you back to The Orestone but please phone us directly next time.

Once again a fabulouse meal served up at the Old Vienna .its a wonderful experiance visiting this place.the staff are excellent the food wonderful.reasonable prices too This is by no way criticism but more of information this is not pub grub service all dishes are cooked to order and take time so be patient , but when they arrive you wont be disappointed. thanks for comments- i am glad all good for you - and yes - we take care and cook from scratch and we only do one sitting so my guests can relax rather than watching the clock - looking forward to seeing you again = and how do you get the smiling faces - i like to learn that - i am OK at cooking - absolutely useless on t internetkind regardsWerner

This is a dining experience in a business model that might seem a little weird. Tables are booked by the time and only open on Friday and Saturday. I phoned to book and the message said we have one table at 6:15. I wanted it (have you seen the reviews?) Hazel phoned said you have to be there at 6:15, no worries I said. She checked again at breakfast. The business model is amazing tables arrive at intervals, meaning you get very personal service from Hazel, Gordon gets to cook personally for you. Lots of local fish and bistro meals. Starters were superb. Scallops and crab cakes x2. Brill, turbot and confit pork, coconut and vanilla tart, white chocolate and Baileys parfait and dark chocolate and Tia Maria parfait. Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc. Ludicrously cheap prices. This restaurant is a gem! Oops forgot the carrots. Quite frankly the best carrots I have ever eaten, that includes Quatre Saisons.
