I've always stuck with Ukrainian favorites - borcht and perogies. Never did like cabbage rolls. Let this place change your mind! I've tried most of their menu items including the cabbage rolls - all amazing, handcrafted, fresh food. They even make the sour cream from scratch. Make sure to try the poppyseed pastries and the savoury crepes! The cafe hosts (Pavlo and Tanya) are helpful and courteous. I would recommend eating here whether passing thru the smithers airport or driving by on the highway, the quality of food is amazing! They are open 7-7 Monday to Friday....

A friend took me here when I was visiting town recently. She had tried to make a reservation but they were full, but fortunately we got a call saying there was a last minute cancellation. It's my understanding they are currently only open Thursday - Sunday, but it wouldn't surprise me if that changed for the summer. Regardless it seems like a good idea to call ahead. Although the meal is buffet style, don't let that fool you: the food is top notch, as is the service (although you go up to the buffet, staff serve the food onto your plate). We started off with three different salad options and ended with three dessert options. The main course offered a chicken stir-fry, rice, a roast...and I'm certain I've forgotten another option or two! All were made of quality ingredients and prepared to perfection.Aside from fantastic food and service, the views are spectacular. There are many windows in the dining area, all of which remind you that you're surrounded by mountains. It was also great to see younger patrons outside making friends with the ridiculously cute cat (who obviously wasn't in the restaurant!). I hope to visit my friend in Smithers again and without question will ask if we can return!
