Where to eat European food in Poznan: The Best Restaurants and Bars

August 10, 2019 Chanda Heide

Find out what European restaurants to try in Poznan. Poznan was once the capital of Poland and is still the capital of the Wielkopolska region. Poznan lies midway between Berlin and Warsaw, which has helped make it an important town for centuries. Badly damaged in World War II, the city (especially its Old Town) has been beautifully restored. The huge Old Town Square (Stary Rynek) is one of Europe’s nicest, and is lined by fabulous historic attractions, restaurants and nightlife. The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul is Poland’s oldest cathedral.

Tutti Santi

I decided to try Tutti Santi purely because of the reviews that I read, and I was glad we went. I ordered the meat board, which included 2 types of cheeses, salami, prosciutto, chorizo, olives, focaccia, and pear jam. I really enjoyed the platter with some white wine as well. My husband ordered 1/4 of a salami pizza, and the meat-stuffed ravioli with a mushroom sauce, He said the pizza was the best he's had so far in Poland, and the ravioli were delicious. I tried the ravioli as well and really enjoyed them. I would suggest that if you're going to go for lunch get there early because it got pretty crowded when we were there, and there aren't a lot of tables. The bill came to 118 zloty for the dishes, 2 beers and 2 wines. We'll definitely be returning to Tutti Santi.

Friday late afternoon. Orzo almost empy. Many waiters ans waitresses going around doing nothing. We got our menus sitting really close to the bar (table picked up by the man who had invited us after entering the place). We'd been waitng for about 15 minutes but no one showed up to take our order. In general this place is the triumph of form over the content. Someone put a lot of money to this place but probably forgot about people...

We went there by accident. However decided to stay, new experience etc. We were asked what menu we would like have. This interview was bizzare, as first lady explaining the rules was simply rude (when she was asked a quiestion, she said „i would tell if you allow me to finish”) and she was basically an ignorant - she stated that bizzare menu is based on Asian cuisine „as they eat everything” - so no comments here...Anyway - the event itself. Dark like a hell, waiter was supposed to serve us wine from the bottle that he left on the table. Guess what? We managed to find the bottle and served ourselves... then after desert we waited ages before someone took us from there. So concluding - service DISASTER!! From that perspective I would never recommend the restaurant. And food? I would say average. Bizzare ingridients - worms, bulls penis, balls etc - ok. It was funny to discover with cheff what we have eaten.Bill - similarly like service - disaster. So forget about value for money. We overpaid like a hell. So concluding - expensive new experience that I will never repeat.

Pulled pork is not typical food for Poland. Which was primarily why I was so blown away by the amazing pulled pork here. It greatly exceeds the average pulled pork in America and would rate it one of the best. The only downside was the mediocre service which is typical in Poland.

This place is a bit on the side from the city center so you definitely won't end up here by accident. But it is worth a ride and search for it. Place is nicely and modernly arranged without any useless decorations (even the washroom is cute). Menu is short, exactly how I like it but long enough to give you a choice no matter what you have an appetite for. Dishes are definitely extraordinary and sophisticated and I doubt you'll find any similar anywhere else. The only small minus goes for final service. After finishing desserts, we informed the waiter that we are done and we would like to get a bill. He came back to us and OFFERED a shot of a special vodka which we thought is complementary as some restaurants do this. A few minutes after when we got the bill we realised that we were charged for it. Additionally it was a pretty expensive so even though we had a great experience, it made us leave with a little bit bitterness...
