Le Riva is a restaurant and pizzeria. We have 2 menus : 19,80€ and 26,90€ and direct plates on the menu. Pasta, "brandade de morue"(typical plate from Paimpol), Saint Jacques with saffron sauce, big steak, burger... Large choice of pizzas, in restaurant o

Right on the quayside in the center of Paimpol, French/Italian menu. Great views from the upstairs restaurant. Good selection (including small childrens menu), various set menu's and a la carte. Prompt friendly service (some English spoken). Food was good but could have been a little warmer...Need to warm the plates on a cold November day ! Italian and French, lots of seafood (not surprisingly), the Saltimboca was good, as was the smoked and fresh salmon pasta .Pleasant ambiance. Parking along the quayside. Lots of competition close by, but would return. Not expensive.

L'Escale

Right on the port in Paimpol. It serves crepes, galettes, seafood and pasta. Less pretentious than some of its neighbours - and at a lower cost. Its is listed on the Paimpol Tourist site.We had a very nice lunch there in June, galettes and mussels.

We have been to this restaurant before, and have always enjoyed the ambience. We had always sat outside on the terrace before, with beautul views across the harbour, but this time as it was not exactly warm we sat inside. The difference between the terrace and the interior is remarkable, rather like a swan, swinging on the seurface of the water, the terrace is like the swan driftiting down the river all serene and calm, but the intererior is like the feet of the swan...paddling away frantically underneath the water, as everyone running around, but it was very organised chaos. We thought the service was great, friendly, light hearted, and fun. my husband chose the frilled salmon with rice and I chose moules a la creme....(he ate my frites). As usual we both had ice creams, but the selection of desserts were very very tempting.....a really lovely lunch, thank you to all including the unseen kitchen staff.

Attractive courtyard setting, but the food was unmemorable. Our evening main course was poor value for money... basically just a few strips of meat, a couple of vegetable morsels and an arty swirl of sauce. The dessert, an apple flan, was similarly unsatisfying. The 'Formule Doris' lunch deal is better value than dinner.

We got a friendly welcome. The interior of the restaurant is modern and stylish. The service was friendly and everything was clearly thought about and food served to a plan. The amuse Bouche of crab and saffron mousse was lovely. There are two set menus and an a la carte menu. The chef takes care to come and explain his dishes to you. The poulet with pruneaux I had as a starter was delicious, the veal ribs I had as a main just did not work....far too much fat and the meat was not tender enough to cut it from the bone and separate it from the fat easily. Pannacotta for dessert was largely flavourless with too much gelatine in it. My friends selection of desserts was lovely. So clearly run by someone who cares about food, service and presentation, but some of the dishes on the menu need work to make them memorable. Thanks for your comment !I change my veal for another meat ! sorry for that

If pizzas were not so calorific I would eat here every week - they are just the best - plenty of tasty toppings on a super perfectly cooked base. Their other dishes are really good too, I've tried them all. The desserts are to die for, especially the profiteroles and it is always served with a smile. The young couple who own this restaurant go out of their way to ensure the clients have a good experience as well as good food. It is a good job I don't live in Lezardrieux all year round - I'd be the size of an elephantMerci de votre visite. Nous espérons vous revoir chez nous. Merci d avoir pris le temps de faire ce retour. Merci pour vos mots. A bientôt.

This creperie is on the eastern side of the harbour by the fishing fleet. It is modern and clean and the service is friendly and efficient. The choice of galettes and crepes is good with nothing too fancy, but includes all the usual favourites. Other dishes are available. We had the galettes with two ingredients, a bowl of green salad between us and a jug of cider, all for under 20 euros in total, which we thought represented good value and it was a pleasant experience. We think this restaurant should be higher up the Paimpol ratings as it considerably better than some of the more popular restaurants on the other side of the harbour.

Restaurant Hotel de la Marne

Reviewed By SeptimusFry

On Wednesday we made RV with two couples, each visiting Paimpol in their lovely 43ft cruisers. They wanted something a bit special and mentioned another Paimpol restaurant which I would not recommend, so had to come up with something sure - I had to plump for the Hotel de la Marne, with crossed fingers that nothing had changed since our last visit. We were not disappointed. The three-course meal (plus amuse-gueules) was the simple 27€ 'Menu Pampoull' (there were other menus available). Having had lunch recently with an oenologist and learned a few things about fish and wine, we had langustine brochettes trimmed with foie-gras and quail eggs for openers with a chilled Chinon (I had to ask for the wine to be chilled down in an ice-bucket !) then, for the main course, a plate organised around a perfectly undercooked piece of fillet steak - organised, since there were other diversions on the plate - washed down with a comfortable Morgon. Strangely, the distaff side then opted for cheese, whilst the men had 'Crème Vanille et compotée de framboise enrobée de chocolat blanc,Glace Vanille, sorbet fruit rouge'. The menu offered the choice of cheese or dessert for the third included plate. I forget how much the menu was increased if one had wanted cheese and dessert. With 6 menus at 27€ and two bottles of un peu pricey wine, we ended up at 45€/pp. Not bad for true 5-star dining. Not to mention the excellent attentive service, somewhat above that generally available in Brittany apart from the truly expensive Michelin-starred establishments.

Hotel Restaurant Bocher

I was going to write a fairly disappointed review of this place until I discovered something that is much more important.Overnight there are no staff in the hotel and the front door is locked and another door behind that is also locked by key to secure the bar and reception area with no access to clients. Access for clients is through the rear door which again is by key. There are two fire exits at this stage, one being the rear door, the other being on the first floor from the outside terrace. So, if there is a fire in the vicinity of the rear door the only escape is from the first floor - the two front doors being locked without electronic release in the event of fire.On the first floor terrace there is a gate to the fire escape. This is difficult to open - my wife couldn't do it but I could with effort. Once open there is what can best be described as a contraption activated by the yellow handle - see photos. There are no instructions so I checked on the web to see how it worked. Apparently a ladder furls out.How an even moderately disabled person, a pregnant woman, child or mother with babe in arms could get down this is a distinct worry. The drop is about 20 feet. The terrace is above the rear of the hotel (where the fire could be) and the drop zone therefore also adjacent to the possible fire. There is only one fire extinguisher on the first floor. There was no smoke alarm in my room and therefore guess in none of the other rooms.Hopefully there will never be a fire in this hotel but if there is I'd hate to be there.Dear SirHow can you write so many lies and stupidities? Do you think for a single minute that a hotel in France can not have fire safety rules? Do you think we do not have regular checks and certificates of compliance? When not having staff in the hotel, allow me to tell you that we are present from 7:20 to 23h every day, without a day off, unlike you ...Thank you for keeping your nastiness and cowardice for you rather than saying things you do not know !!!

Le Balthazar is a quirky little wine bar in the old town of Paimpol which serves food. There is a good selection of wines, and some nice platters. The hot food is rustic and excellent value for money, all locally sourced. We had a huge plate of belly pork with sautéed potatoes and salad. Absolutely gorgeous and very filling! The restaurant is very small and cosy. The service was great. A lovely place to have lunch.

We stayed in Paimpol only to eat here. There were six of us and good job we had booked as the restaurant soon was full. The imaginative dishes (I'm sure I had a pig ear for a starter) kept coming along with springingly delicious aperitives and cocktails. Not enough start to say how good it was. Magnificent.
