I've never been to a restaurant that has such a rude, arrogant, whining restaurant manager. We arrived 15 minutes late having driven 300 miles to get there and the restaurant manager basically told us we should have left earlier! Everything was a chore. To cap it all, our group was overcharged by EUR 20. If you value good service and honesty, don't come here

Some really interesting dishes waiting to be explored in a pleasant ambience; alas, dear customer, you need patience, much patience, as the service is abysmally slow. Two hours (!) passed before the dessert - which the waiter had insisted to be ordered along with the two previous courses - appeared, without the smallest trace of an excuse/explanation, by the way. The bread arrived when we were half way through the main course. For the wine, a simple rosé which, down the road they sell for less than 10 â¬, they charge 28 â¬; but don't expect your glasses to be refilled by anyone but yourself.

It would be hard to better this. Staying in the Morvan (the region, that is, not the hotel) for a week's walking, picnicking or cooking in the gîte, we decided to have one special lunch out. We were not disappointed. We were greeted and seated at once, though the wait to order & the delivery of the wine & water were a shade longer even than is the default in France, where no one is ever expected to turn up at a restaurant faint from starvation (it does happen). After that, however, it was two hours of unalloyed pleasure. The food looks so good that I'll simply post photos of the three dishes I chose with the assurance that each was as good as it looks. Three courses, coffee & wine for three people didn't break 100â¬. The kind of gastronomic experience that makes you feel good for the rest of the day.

This misquote small and on the main road (which they tell you if you book an outside table) Rather good house cocktail involving gin, salt, fizz and something else. the carpaccio was very good - local cows feature menus round here. The pasta had been written up approvingly here so we had that but I thought mine with vegetables rather bland. Husband had bolognese and liked it but, honestly who orders pasta bolognese, a house staple? But whatever you have, save room for the cafe gourmand: strong black coffee and five little desserts including iles flottant (my favourite ) and nutella tiramisu. Yum!

Gourmet travellers and Michelin-mad bon vivants alike have been making their pilgrimage to this fabled address of French gastronomy ever since Bernard Loiseau opened the doors to his decadent hideaway in Saulieu. The legacy of Loiseau is still a strong fo
After years trying to convince my other half to pay some tribute visit to this place, we finally went for a short week-end.Comments here are for the restaurant only (comments on the hotel in a separate review). It is overall one of the surviving myths of the French cuisine, and understandably so. We had the large menu, which was obviously not cheap but a very good selection. The place feels like a provincial auberge, in a good way, so if you expect hyper modern decor, be prepared. Service was on par with expectations - precise & rather perfect, with a warm approach.Food is obviously good - i would say somehow "grands classiques". I would also thank the teams for providing decent portions (forget the mini sampling plates you can receive in some gastronomic ventures in Paris) and - thank God - warm food (to the restaurant owner: if you could pass the message to some of your Parisian counterparts: customers do not like to eat lukewarm food that gets cold in a matter of seconds).Worth going: of course, plan a Burgundy tourExpensive: rather expectedly

If you judge a restaurant by what appears on your plate then this place undoubtedly succeeds. Flavours are obviously finely balanced, there is close attention to detail throughout and dishes are imaginative and inventive without becoming over-complicated. The comprehensive wine list includes some seriously good bottles, mostly at fair prices, and there is also a good selection of half-bottles. All so good, yet there is something not quite right. The ambience is too rigid and formal for a rustic auberge in the Morvan forest. After a nice welcome by the chef/patron, I would have liked at least a smile and perhaps a moment or two light-hearted banter from the waiting staff. It didn't happen. Almost as if somebody chuckled or even laughed they would say "Shhh" as if in a library. But this is only one "minus" amid many, many "pluses". The food is truly outstanding and I shall definitely return.

It's a simple restaurant with local food, clean and well organized. We took the 13.60 Euro Menu Du Jour ( menu of the day ).For first course we had an Assiete De Charcuterie ( a plate with several kinds of sausages ) and an Assiete de Crudités ( a plate with different kinds of raw vegetables and salads ) that we shared, both very good. For second course we had deep fried tiny fish with green salad. The fish are eaten in one bite, except the head, of course. It was tasty and interesting. The sauce of the different kinds of lettuce salad was very good. For dessert we had Tarte Abricot (apricot tart ) and ice cream, both good.We added a 0.25 liter ( about 8.5 ounce ) red wine pitcher and coffee for 1.10 Euro. The coffee was very good. The food was simple, tasty, sufficient quantity.Service was friendly and efficient. We recommend.

We absolutely loved this place and can't wait to go back some fine day. enjoyed lunch on sunny day on terrace looking out over the river and trees. A good choice of lovely french food, not fussy but beautifully presented and tasting fabulous. Very relaxed atmosphere , attentive, friendly staff who could not do enough to make us feel welcome. Vegetarians are not so well catered for sometimes in France but they went out of their way to ensure I had something lovely to eat. It is a very versatile place, in that you can eat something simple or go for 3 or 4 course menu.
